A friend of mine in NY pointed me at the ten.wikipedia.org event going on later this month to celebrate Wikipedia's 10th Birthday, and specifically the DC event [1].
Did this come up at the meeting on Sunday? Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it. I did sign up to do a lightning talk though. It would be great to get the word out about this event, I see that Kat got it added to the DC-TechEvents [2] calendar, which is good. I wonder if there's any way we can spread the word a bit more?

Yes, we discussed it
Also, we are thinking about doing a GLAM Wiki DC conference in the late spring or summer (may or june) to focus on how libraries, museums, etc can collaborate with wikipedia. There were similar events in London and Paris a month ago.

Excellent! :)

Please help spread the word. Now the holidays are over, it's a good time to tweet, post on facebook, etc.
We will do our usual "spam" on wikipedia user talk pages maybe later today
We will also have site-wide notices on wikipedia shortly once we take down Jimmy's thank you banner

I'm really enjoying listening to the audio from the recent GLAM-Wiki in London that recently went online [1]. I think having a similar event here in DC is a great idea, and am willing to try to help make it happen.

Nice, that'll get it in front of a lot of people.

Ed,
Awesome!!! Liam, Pharos (Richard from Wikimedia NYC) and myself were chatting about that and think we definitely want to organize a GLAM-Wiki event here in DC.
Maybe sometime in May or early June? We would be super happy to have your help with that. :)

It looks like we might need to cap attendance at around 100. :/ I'm looking into organizing an after-event party / happy hour at some place nearby, with room for additional folks.

Note that I would expect from similar events that about 1/3 of the people who signed up will not actually show up.

Yes, the 100 limit needs to take that into account, so our limit might be ~120-125 or so.
