Hi everyone,
I'm the new Regional Ambassador the DC Region, I'll be overseeing the Campus Ambassador http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Ambassador_Program program and working towards furthering Wikimedia's relationships with higher education institutions through the District only. (Not Virginia or Maryland) I'm putting together a list of potential professors (anyone teaching is welcome, including PhD students) to work with for our Fall 2011 semester. And of course, we're always looking for those interested in being Campus Ambassadors (you /do not/ have to be a student!).
I just wanted to send out a quick email to poke your brains about any professors that you think might be worth reaching out too. We are now seeking to expand our relationships /outside /of the Public Policy sector, and into all arenas of higher education.
I am seeking potential relationships with people at the following institutions:
* George Washington University * American University * The Catholic University * Corcoran College of Art and Design * Gallaudet * Georgetown (we do have relationships here, but always happy to expand!) * Howard University * University of DC
I also know we have the Wesley Theological Seminary, I haven't quite tossed around this idea yet, but, any contacts is grand.
Feel free to email me directly, or I suppose post it here if you'd like, and /thank you!/

Hey all,
Since Sarah sent this e-mail, I though I would also chirp up as well. I am the regional Ambassador for the Greater Chesapeake region (which is the area outside of DC in Maryland, Virginia and West Virigina) which means that I am looking for lead on Campus Ambassadors and Professors as well. If you know anyone in any of these areas, or even somewhere else, that might be interested in doing a teaching assignment, talk to Sarah or myself and we will make sure that we get you in contact with the right people. Please, we want as many disciplines as possible in the next several rounds of Ambassadors and classes, so talk to anyone and everyone you know in higher education.

You left out one huge university in the area, the University of Maryland.
Are we restricting things to technically being within the confines of the District, or does the DC Metropolitan area count?
And what kinds of relationships are we talking about? I graduated from UMD in 2007 and I know some professors from the CompSci department who would probably still remember me (hopefully positively), but what exactly are we trying to achieve?

I am the Regional Ambassador for extra-DC universities, and would be more then willing to any contacts you already have there that may be interested. I can also give you recruiting tools and ideas, for initial contacts with people before handing them off to me to firm up the deal,
