I just now subscribed to the Wikimedia-Boston list because, even though I have been editing Wikipedia for nearly 14 years and have lived in the Greater Boston area my entire life, I’ve never attempted to meet other Wikipedians in person because it never occurred to me that Wikipedians did so until today. I always just assumed that editors were people who edited the site in their spare time but never actually interacted with one another beyond their interactions on talk pages, and that the people who edited the site as much as I do were just lonely, depressed, and socially isolated losers like myself. But my loneliness, depression, and social isolation have become much more acute over the last year, so I'm curious, when is the next meeting? I really hope it’s soon.

Wikipedia edit-a-thons are something that I look forward to myself: I think that's why I like to host them! And it's definitely a great way to edit quietly with others or to edit more socially with others. The way the events facilitate different working styles is something I like about edit-a-thons.
I suspect that an edit-a-thon will be offered as part of WikiConference North America:

But there will probably be something on a smaller scale at some point soon, too. I would like to do some editing too.

Welcome to the list, and the Boston Wikimedians group! Seconding what Laura said, the next BIG thing that we have in the area will be WikiConference North America, at MIT: http://wikiconference.org
It's a chance to meet Wikipedians from all over the country! Registration is now open, and please do register if you intend to attend so we have an accurate headcount. I hope you and everyone else on the list will be able to attend.
