Hello Boston Wikipedians,
Below is a copy of recent email correspondence with the Cambridge Public Library, regarding participation in the upcoming Wikipedia Loves Libraries event in October 2011. The Library won't be able to participate this time, but would be interested in a future event.

Anne,
[...] I talked with a few of my colleagues and it is something we'd like to do but we won't be able to do it this October. [...] Please do keep me posted - given a little more time, I'd really like to plan for this if it happens again in the future.
Thanks,
Alyssa

Dear Alyssa,
Would the Cambridge Public Library/Cambridge Room consider participating in the upcoming fall 2011 "Wikipedia Loves Libraries" event? It seems like it might be a wonderful way to publicize CPL's resources, especially, for instance, in local history. I think the Harvard Law School and MIT may be organizing events along these lines.

(Pardon me for being late to this conversation.)
Has anyone asked at the Somerville Public Library? One of my friends is in charge of the local history collection (among other duties) at the Central Branch and might be interested in this event. I'm in one of the book groups and could potentially ask that librarian, too. Let me know if you'd like me to inquire (at least on the "Hey, can I put Anne in touch with you about this cool Wikipedia event?" level). I also know someone at the Winthrop Public Library and maybe others, too. (I know more specialized/corporate/nontraditional/academic librarians than public or school librarians.)

Even though I live in NJ now, I still follow the list and could get in touch with a Boston Public Library employee if you want. He does reference at Dudley and I think still works Sundays at the main branch at Copley. I used to work at the West Roxbury branch and they have Wifi and a room you can reserve.

Hello J.,
My involvement to date has been to ask the Cambridge Public Library if they'd consider the event. If you're not available to coordinate participation of the libraries you mention, I'd be happy to help out.
Has anyone asked the Boston Public Library?
Anne
