We organized 'Wikipedia Loves Art' centrally with Wikimedia NYC and
the Brooklyn Museum, and reached out to other museums and local
Wikimedia folks in different cities.

I got in touch with Dave Menninger to coordinate the wiki side of
working with the Taft Museum of Art in Cincinnati, and I hope we can
get Boston museums participating in the future.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Pharos

Nicole, I don't think there has been a crossover.
the Boston Photog
group would be a great one to engage. And we could start with
university libraries and museums, which tend to be especially open to
such things. Getting permission to take / relicense good photos of
major library works would likely be possible as well.

follow them on Facebook. Description from the page:

Looks like a lot of NYC museums are involved.
Do you know if any effort has been made to work with Boston museums? I know
there's a big Boston Photography meetup. Also Boston MediaMakers has a lot
of photographers and videographers willing to volunteer for the right
projects. Maybe they'd be interested? Also, I have a library school friend
who used to work at the MFA. She may be able to tell me who to contact about
getting permission to take pictures for Wikipedia.
