Hi,
Spinning off the other thread, here's a very naïve attempt at something simple to kick things off.
Wikipedia day is next month!
Can there be a simple informal meetup in some library or cafe in Boston on one of the weekends? Saturday January 25 would be ideal for me, but the weekend before that would be okay, too.
Some American cities are already organizing something :)

I can't organize much more myself because I'm not in Boston and I hardly know any places there, but maybe some locals have a good proposal.
Hello,
I am involved with a group (involved with other groups) working toward saving various kinds of US federal government information (data, reports, web sites, ...), particularly those sources people think might not be around much longer. They are interested in connecting with other people and groups working on some of the same kinds of concerns. These efforts got me wondering about the Wikimedia community, in part because of the commonality of wanting to save and share information. Does anyone know of folks working in these areas already? What about efforts within the Wikimedia community to make sure certain federal government information available today makes it into, say, Wikipedia (as appropriate)?
It seems like every few days, the news reports another federal entity shutting down or at risk of being shut down.
Happy 2025,
j
