Hey everyone,
Thanks again for the wonderful meeting, as I really enjoyed making progress on our user group. That being said, I have uploaded photos from today: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:2nd_Annual_Wikimedia_New_England_... Also, I was thinking about this as I drove home, but would anyone have any objection to possibly dissolving the Connecticut list and moving it here, as it is a bit redundant and there is no activity there. Sam, is it really a good idea to have constant warfare in our midst, or do you think that this will work out in the end? Either way, October 13th is looking like a possible day for our next official meeting, but since it is in the middle of Columbus Day weekend, it isn’t set in stone yet. Well, I hope that’s everything, and thanks again for everyone’s help!
Kevin
I'm not thrilled with the idea of scheduling a meeting over a holiday, as that tends to be when lots of people plan lots of things. Perhaps a week before or after that? Either way, if the target month is October, I'd like to get the date resolved by mid-august at the latest, so we can make sure that the word goes out effectively and with enough time beforehand that people can schedule for it.
Cheers, Sven

Hi all,
Please note, the Ada Lovelace Day Women in STEM edit-a-thon will be held just two days later, on Oct 15 (probably at BU; Harvard as a backup). I'm waiting to put up an event page until I've confirmed the location. Anyway, another reason to move the meeting, since I hope to see many of you there.... ;)
Perhaps a Doodle poll is in order? Now that this email list has been updated, we should have a more representative sample of potential attendees to reply. And Kevin, maybe you could just put a small number of dates to keep things simple.

Doing the meeting concurrent with the edit-a-thon (or immediately before/after) might make it easier for traveling folks to attend both? --scott On Jul 20, 2013 9:56 PM, "Maia Weinstock" maiapw@gmail.com wrote:

Hi Scott,
I definitely see your point. A few counterpoints: The ALD edit-a-thon will be 5-6 hours long (I think it was 3-9pm last time, which worked well), and the first hour will be focused on those who have never edited Wikipedia before. Don't want to bore you all to tears with super-basics after our own meeting that will probably go at least an hour or two. Also, guessing you all mostly won't be able to come during daytime hours on a work/school day. Lastly, I personally would prefer not to do it after the edit-a-thon because I will proably be pretty wiped out. However, if we all agree that's the best time, then let's go for it.

Okay everyone, here is the link to the Doodle. Since the 15th is on a weekday, I’ve excluded it since it would prohibit professionals and others who are outside the immediate Boston area from attending. Here’s the link: http://doodle.com/s2z9ef7a99xbxwau

If we're going to do anything over a colombo-themed weekend, we'd better make it a freedom and knowledge loving retreat celebration in, say, the berkshires, or on a boat in the Harbor/on the harbor islands, where everyone can bring friends and family and relax. With a brief excursion into a formal meeting for those interested. Of course, true to form, we would have appropriate 1490s period dress and camping gear.
SJ (who would be totally into that)
