Dear Wikipedians,
Joseph Reagle, Mako, and I are starting a reading group meeting alternate Wednesdays this term. It will focus on changing approaches to synthesizing and disseminating knowledge, where wikis and Wikipedia fit into developments in recent centuries, and how these changes reframe the way we think of ourselves as creators or as knowledge-driven communities.
We invite your input on useful readings, from wikiprojects and essays to papers and statistical analysis.

Other thoughts on where we could take this concept are also welcome; the imagined audience is a mix of Wikipedia users and enthusiasts, social theorists, and academics hoping to capture some of the collaborative wiki-spirit in their own work. While the readings will be a shared background and language, participants will be encouraged to come with their own projects to discuss or troubleshoot.
