Dear NEW,
This year we have 13 candidates standing for election, and a new combined
affiliate/community process.
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022
1) In early July, affiliates vote to choose a short list of 6 candidates.
(1 vote per affiliate)
2) in late August (15-29), the community will vote on that short list.
The candidates
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Candida…>
have provided initial statements. Phoebe & I will set up a way for you all
to cast votes for the shortlist; based on that we will file a single
collective vote for NEW.
The candidates will have a chance to say more about themselves on Meta; we
will point to that and any other detail when returning to this thread in
July.
Warmly, SJ
This summer two Trustees are being elected to the WMF Board.
* Please encourage people you would like to see on the board to stand for
election
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Apply_t…>
.
* See below if you know someone who might want to be in a
candidate-evaluation group.
A new process is being tested:
--> Affiliates appoint 9 people to an analysis committee
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Affilia…>,
which broadly evaluates candidates
--> Affiliates vote in a primary (using STV, one vote per affiliate) to
choose 6 top candidates
--> Community members vote to choose two trustees from that pool .
If you would like to be on the analysis committee, or to nominate someone
else who would be willing and suited to it, list them at the top of the
section here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Affilia…>
(or
let me or phoebe know).
Warmly, SJ
