Hi Wiki-Bostonians and New Englanders,
We'd like to invite folks to a group planning call for regional Wikimedian
organizers in the US on Monday evening:

Let me know if you're interested in joining.
Thanks,
Richard / Pharos
Hi all,
It was a pleasure seeing everyone yesterday and meeting some of you for the first time.
I’m leading a discussion group on information literacy and wikipedia and am looking for a few good articles for a general audience of library staff. For example:
Oliver, J. T. (2015). One-shot Wikipedia: an edit-sprint toward information literacy. Reference
Services Review, 43(1), 81–97. https://doi.org/10.1108/RSR-10-2014-0043
Seligman, A. I. (2013). Teaching Wikipedia without Apologies<http://quod.lib.umich.edu/d/dh/12230987.0001.001/1:6/--writing-history-in-t…>. Writing History in the Digital Age.
Anyone have any suggestions to pass my way?
I’ve poured through the literature already but am wondering if there are book chapters that might be helpful.
Thanks for any suggestions you can provide!
Regards,
Laura
Hi Richard and all,
Thanks!! Yes: it looks like July 16, Sunday, is the best day. How about
1-5p on Sunday? Here's the wiki page:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Boston/Wiknic_2017
Following a suggestion by Joseph Reagle, let's try Cambridge this year -
specifically JFK park in Harvard Square. JFK park borders Memorial Drive,
which is closed on Sundays in summer to vehicular traffic, so it is a
pleasant place to stroll, bicycle, etc. The closest T stop is Harvard Sq.,
a few blocks away. Map:

Hope to see you all there!

Hi Wiki-Bostonians,
It looks like Sunday July 16 is the most favored date.
I look forward to taking the bus up from NYC to join :)
Should we set up a page on-wiki?
Thanks,
Richard

Dear all,
It's that time of year again - the great American Wiknic! This year the
main Wiknic dates are July 8-9. However, I've made a poll to see what dates
are most popular - July 8 or 9 or the following weekend, July 15 or 16. It
will be an afternoon picnic. Take the poll here:

We could go back to the Boston public garden, which was lovely, or the JFK
park on the Cambridge side was suggested - better on Sunday when Mem Drive
is closed. Let me know any location thoughts.
I'll let this run for a few days then we can pick a date and a rain date.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
Thanks,
Phoebe
