We'll definitely have an online backchannel. I'm trying to get a group
working on an etherpad + irc. Currently posted a thought @ wikibooks and
pointed to it from other book-writing communities (pls point your favorite
communities to it :)

Mako,
I added a description to the session. I would be delighted by anyone
spreading the word, and am looking forward to the discussion.

To: Wikimedia DC chapter mailing list <wikimedia-dc(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
I just wanted to say a big thank you to the Wikimedia DC Chapter, and
especially to Lisa Marrs, Kristin Anderson, Jim Hayes, James Hare, and
all of the other wonderful volunteers who helped to make our meetup
and edit-a-thon last Friday such a wonderful success. Your generosity
and collegiality went a long way in helping the new editors and GLAM
professionals in attendance feel more comfortable and positive about
working with Wikipedia and Wikimedians.
You can review our results of the day at

Don't miss the Storify summary at

Looking forward to many more GLAM-Wiki events and ideas to come!

Interested in going to this? I'll be there for at least part of that
weekend.
From: Dora Gao <dora(a)boundlesslearning.com> <dora(a)boundlesslearning.com>
My name is Dora and I work for an education technology company called
Boundless in Boston. I am reaching out to you regarding a textbook
hackathon Boundless is hosting in a few weeks.
We're pulling together a group of Boston area physics teachers, grad
students, researchers, and undergrads with TA experience to join us at
Boundless for a hackathon weekend. Essentially, it's a way to meet and
mingle with fellow physicists enthusiasts while creating a free, open
physics textbook for students and teachers to use soon. To create the
textbook the group will be pulling from free, openly-licensed educational
sources online (we'll explain the whole process during a fun orientation
night). Here's some more info about the hackathon:
http://textbookhackathon.eventbrite.com/
I would love if you could share the event with your physics contacts!
A little background on Boundless <http://www.boundless.com>: The company
is based in Boston and has raised almost $10M in venture capital to date.
We're is aiming to make education more affordable and accessible for
students by curating the best open educational resources. We currently have
free, open textbook alternatives for eight subjects, and physics is one
we're planning to share with the community soon!
Hello everyone. I'm not entirely sure that these emails are read and/or
wanted, but here's one anyways!
Tonight's meeting was attended by five people. Maia (the event planner for
the upcoming Ada Lovelace Day edit-a-thon) was there, and the main topic of
conversation was that event. Aside from the Ada Lovelace event, no official
business was discussed. In short, while we'd have loved for you to have
joined us, if you didn't show, you didn't miss anything new or critical.
There are four events coming up in New England that you should know about.
They are:
- The Ada Lovelace Day edit-a-thon on Tuesday, October 16th, from 3:00pm
to 8:30pm, at the Harvard University Law School. <
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Ada_Lovelace_Edit-a-thon_-_Ha…
>
- The UMass Amherst Wikipedia Loves Libraries event on Thursday, October
25th, from 9:00am to 5:00pm at UMass Amherst's Du Bois Library. <
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/UMassAmherst>
- The Boston Dorchester/Roxbury Wikipedia Loves Libraries event on
Saturday, November 10th, (times TBA) at the Dorchester/Roxbury branch of
the Boston Public Library. <link TBA>
- The Cambridge Public Library Wikipedia Loves Libraries event on
Saturday, November 17th, from 11:00am to 5:00pm at the Cambridge Public
Library main branch. <
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/Cambridge_Public_Library/Wiki…
>
Please note that Maia would like for you to RSVP for the Ada Lovelace Day
event via email. Her mailing address is <maiaw(a)nasw.org>. The other two
events with pages set up have regular sign up sections.
If any Wikipedia administrators are reading, it'd probably be a good idea
to set up the sitenotice for the Ada Lovelace Day event as soon as
possible, as we're only a week away.
Thanks for reading,
Sven
Hello glorious comrades!
This message is to remind you that there is a monthly meeting *tonight at
7:00 PM at Clover Food Lab in Cambridge*.
I had to be reminded myself, so I figured I'd pass the reminder along.

Denny from the Wikidata team will be in Boston in November.
If folks are interested in having a meetup or something with him, you can
let me and/or Lydia (cc-ed) know or reply on the Wikipedia talk page here:

Hi Sven,
In Australia we have a classical countdown each year. France is the
theme this year. Wikimedia Australia is organising a
meetup/edit-a-thon, but also an online edit-a-thon over the week of
the countdown. Maybe your are interested, or know someone who is.
