I’m working on wikidata for my MS thesis in Computer Engineering. i need to do some time expensive queries. Is it possible to set the spraql endpoint timeout in order to don’t obtain this kind of error? Thank you for your attention. Federico

I want to look up concepts and entities by their name even if it contains typos or omissions in wiki data. Can I do this using Wikidata-Toolkit? Can I use achieve using sparql query from the web interface? Thx

Wikidata entity dumps on Labs

Hi, I noticed that there is considerable delay between the weekly Wikidata JSON dump appearing online and the file appearing on the Labs servers [1]. For example, the 20160502 dump is online right now, but there is only an empty directory for this date on Labs. In retrospect, file modification dates on Labs give the appearance that the files have been around earlier than they seem to be, but they have not been available at this time last week either. As it is now, it is faster to download the dump instead of waiting for the file to show up in the central location, but it's probably not intended that each tool gets its own copy. For a weekly dump, half a day of delay is significant. Any ideas (including whom to ask)? [GSoC 2016] Community Bonding

Hi everyone I am Alangi Derick and also d3r1ck on the IRC. I was selected in the GSoC 2016 program and i'm opportune to work on the project titled "Integration of IFTTT support for Wikidata" and I am very happy to be the first African GSoCer in Wikimedia Foundation. This is indeed a privilege and I wish to thank everyone that guided me in this movement to attain this level. I specially want to thank my mentors (Stephen Laporte, Marius Hoch, Lydia Pintscher, Benedikt Seidl and Sam Tarling) for helping me before and within this program. Also I won't forget to thank some very key org admins for their great help when I just joined the movement (Quim Gil, Brian Wolf, Andre Klapper), I really thank you all for your help. I will love to keep working with you all so that I can better shape my future in Wikimedia and also hope to see you all in person when the time comes :) and also to all Wikimedia Developers, I shall keep in touch and we all shall make the movement better in the future. Where did the sites table go?

Hi, I wondered where the dumps of the Wikidata sites table went. It used to be part of the exports, but now it's gone. New name? Different system? In the latter case: where do I now find the language, page URL, file URL, and group for sites that Wikidata links to? Enabled federated queries on my local stand-alone, but bindings don't 'take'

I posted this last week to wikidata(a)lists.wikimedia.org, but perhaps this is a better forum for this problem. Re-posting it here. Federated queries are disabled on the stand-alone code out-of-the-box. I followed the advice on this post to un-disable federated queries for my local installation: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikidata/2016-March/008444.html (Thanks Mr. Malyshev!) I did have one problem with the build: I found myself having to remove the checkstyle plugin from the pom.xml file to get the maven build to go to completion. Now on my local installation I can get this query to work just fine: (Current namespace: wdq) Select * Where { Service <http://localhost:9999/bigdata/namespace/test/sparql> { Bind ("Algeria"@en as ?countryLabel) } } Also this: (current namespace: test) prefix rdfs: <http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#> Select * Where { Service <http://localhost:9999/bigdata/namespace/wdq/sparql> { Bind ("Algeria"@en as ?countryLabel) ?country rdfs:label ?countryLabel. } } But this query (and every variation I could think of) unfortunately times out: (current namespace: wdq) prefix rdfs: <http://www.w3.org/2000/01/rdf-schema#> Select * Where { { Select ?countryLabel { Service <http://localhost:9999/bigdata/namespace/test/sparql> { Bind ("Algeria"@en as ?countryLabel) } } } ?country rdfs:label ?countryLabel. } This is also the case when addressing a Jena service I have set up on a different port. Greetings, Very interesting topic, Would love to learn more about geo coding with Wikidata, or maybe even about spatial modeling or creating significant improvements into desired gazeteers &/or geodatabases. Ofcourse, I am not familiar with much of the .rdf output, but maybe we can talk about those summarized efforts towards retreiving spatial attributes using the Wikidata API >?
