The attached review of THE METHOD GUN is from TIMEOUTNEWYORK. The production received FIVE STARS. Anyone who follows this publication (as I do) knows that maybe a handful of productions in the entire year of New York theater receives FIVE STARS. These critics are tough. Major congratulations to Madge and the Rude Mechs for being the talk of the town.
For some reason in my scanning of the attached review you cannot make out the Five Stars (they are in the black portion of the review directly below the title). But they are there in a bold way in the magazine.
m
Wow!!!! Congratulations, Madge!

With Michael, Mary, and Alice, I had the chance to see the production when it was in NYC, and I completely agree with the TimeOutNewYork praise of the performance, except I would awarded SIX STARS! After the performance we saw, there was an audience talk-back with company members who provided a fascinating glimpse into how a Winedalian sense of play contributed to the production we saw. And THE METHOD GUN also made me realize how much better Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman would have been if it had a tiger!

Okay, Michael has gotten me out of the house to see films again, and now Madge & Co. will get me out of the house to see live theater again. By a lucky chance I'll be in L.A. when the Mechs are there with the play, can't wait... Congrats Madge and friends! And thanks for all the reports everyone and the scanned review Michael.

I think I might manage to make the LA performances if they don't conflict with my daughter's high-school graduation. What are the dates? Where do I hunt for tickets?

Thanks, Maggie. It's beginning to look like I'll be able to attend. I may wait to book a ticket, though, until you and Steve decide for certain when you're going to go -- I'd like to maximize the chance of attending with other Winedale/UT folks.

I saw it this weekend, and was I amazed, charmed, brought to tears, turned on (by the balloons-tied-to-penises dance: it’s a “new kind of theater” – so exciting!), mesmerized by the raw technical skill these friends bring to the stage, made to envy the fun they are having and documenting and analyzing and displaying.
It was the closing night in New York when I saw it, but if they’re going elsewhere with it – get there.
Doc, your name appears in the closing thank-you-to-our-great-teachers credits (apparently, in EVERY show, no matter what the audience submits). It was a beautiful circle, never closing, always expanding and spreading, that they created.
Love to you all, David

Whoopeee! I saw it twice here in NYC, and the riches weren¹t a bit tarnished by knowing what was coming, to the contrarythey just sparkled all the more. I loved the spirit of it, the paradoxes of itprobing deep with light hearts, for example. Shakespeare at Winedale was like one of its organs. Ok, ew, better block that metaphor, but you know what I mean!!! CongratuLAtions, Madge dear, and love to all.

And the absolute best part of the inventive, layered Rudeness was the the ending, a dangerous, dance-like set of movements that recapitulated what had gone before - dangerous because done while moving through poles swinging like pendulums through space - THRILLING! And Madge designed those pendulums and their realization. Amazing.
Congratulations on TIME OUT and the NY Times!!
Love to all,

Thank you all. I really appreciate that so many of you have come to see the show. Yes, it is always a beautiful moment to see Doc's name projected on the wall when we have friends from Winedale in the audience. Maggie, I hope we'll see you next when we are in LA in June.
Love, Madge
