Hi all,
Back in 2011 the European Commission issued a Recommendation that called for, among other things, making sure that digital copies of public domain works remain in the public domain. [1] Although non-binding, this Recommendation helped us convince the EU legislator in 2019 to get such an article in the copyright reform of 2019.
Now the Commission is considering updating the document and is asking a number of questions and giving us the opportunity to send it a position paper until 14 September 2020.
I have set up a dedicated Meta-Page [2] where I hope you will help me come up with great answers to the questions. If there are things you think we should suggest outside of the provided space for answers, this can go into our position paper. Please message me either on or off list or add it to the bottom of the page (last section).
I know there are plenty of cultural heritage and digitisation experts in this group, so I am certain we will stand out by providing great input and ideas for the new Recommendation. Please don't hesitate to circulate this to other channels.
Thanks in advance for helping out.
Cheers, Dimi
