Hey everyone,
Thanks for the initiative! A point that might be taken into account for future initiatives: Instead of talking just about "our" situation (we can't use), we imho should frame this as a general problem: "Free and open media can't use ..." or s.th. like that ...

Hello again,
Just to pick this up once more.
Matthias, I take your point about the turnover of MEPs. But the sooner we get this out, the sooner people begin paying attention. If we wait for a perfect time - like some other groups - we will likely get lost in the noise. There's no reason we can't follow-up with newly elected MEPs in the summer. Also, I see what you mean about Big Ben potentially being misinterpreted. It's also not a great example as it would be out of copyright anyway, so am going to use a different image.
Bence - that was a useful spot, thank you. The updated version has the links as footnotes.
I'm going to make some changes to the letter today and I'm hoping to get the final version printed and sent by the end of the week.
Thanks and regards,
Stevie

As to Mathias' comment on the MEPs: Yes, there will be some
considerable
turnover, but at the same time politicians are most likely to pay
attention
to such a thing before election time. Sending it out just to the ones
we
believe might get reelected would be - diplomatically speaking - bad diplomacy. Can't we just resend it after the elections to just the
newly
elected MEPs?
There is already too much bad diplomacy out there, so thanks for Dimis argument. As you can see from
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Parliament_election,_2014_(United_Kin... , the number of parties who did send MEPs to Brussels was considerable. It would be possible to send such a letter to the parties before the election and to the specific elected MEPs afterwards.
