Hi all,
To follow up on my email from last week, I wanted to let you know that we have now signed the Necessary and Proportionate principles[1] and written a blog post about it: https://blog.wikimedia.org/2014/05/09/opposing-mass-surveillance-on-the-inte...

Hi all,
Thanks for your input on this. Given the positive comments about the Necessary and Proportionate principles, as well as the fact that they are already supported by others in the movement – including Wikimedia Mexico and folks on this list – we will sign on to the principles tomorrow.
We will also continue exploring other opportunities to oppose mass surveillance in order to protect free expression and privacy.
Best, Yana

I am involved as a supporter of the Necessary and Proportionate principles, and would very much appreciate the WMF joining the coalition. (I believe this group was brought up on this list previously.)
I am also involved on the coalition and contributed to the process of drafting the Necessary and proportionate principles. Having WMF in the coalition would be good news for the privacy activists and for the WM movement as well.
