Hi, I noticed that after our last meeting the proposal has been reworked as discussed and I think it now follows our suggestions in a proper way. Didn't we talk about publishing it on meta, replacing the old draft (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_working_group/Proposal) these days? It would be nice and very helpful to have a timetable with the fixed and the variable dates of the process in the movement roles wiki, just to keep an eye of what must be done when (and perhaps by whom). Arne, can you start this with the already known dates (I would do, but didn't write them down).
Best regards, Alice.
Could all of this discussion and work take place on Meta? Does any material currently on the MR wiki need to be private? (I see this was on the agenda at last week's meeting -- what was the result of the discussion about how the two wikis would be used?)
Publishing a polished proposal rather than working on drafts in public may be perceived as "private development, public commentary" rather than an open public collaboration, even if this is not the intent.
Warmly, SJ

You are right, we need to put up for comment ASAP the proposal and timeline. Arne, Austin and I have been reworking the draft, so it should be open today.
In addition, there is a call to discuss the proposal on Sunday at 1500 UTC. Arne, Austin and I are meeting in person in Frankfurt all day. In our last meeting we scheduled a call at 1500 UTC for Oct 3 to go through the proposal. It would be great if you could make the call, or, if not, share you comments prior.
All the best
Jon

Thank you. Is the idea that after the next update on Meta further changes will happen there?

The document as a whole reads more like a description of what the group aims to do -- and a most useful one -- than a proposal. This is fine -- it's not clear to me that the Board needs to approve anything at this stage; the rough outline has already been approved and the details need refinement, balance, broad input.
Top-level sections could be split into Background / Implementation ideas / Approach.
The implementation ideas could be organized into major sections aligned with the four goals of the group. "Roles & responsibilities" have been well fleshed out as issues to address, for goal 1. A Charter addresses goal 3, and touches on the other goals briefly. Specifics for goals 2. and 4. (similar to the specific issues listed for goal 1) still need to be worked out.
I have left some specific comments and questions here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Movement_roles_working_group/Proposal

If the guidance from the board is that we have the right direction and goals, then we can continue with confidence.
