Last week we did some testing on usertesting.com that revealed a major discoverability problem with the UI that used the W as the Main Menu button.

We also tested a new approach that used the W as an emblem within the search field and used a recognizable Main Menu icon. The Action Bar icon is still not unambiguous so we will keep working on that one.
