Yeah, there's probably something weird in my cookies or localStorage, especially if Maryana had it clear up after clearing browser state that sounds suspicious to me.
I've filed a bug as https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=66888 -- I haven't cleared the cookies yet so when I have a little time I'll poke in with the debugger and see what I can find.

Not sure if this is just because I have stray opt-in/opt-out cookies on various languages from various previous browsing or if there's something funky.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Safari and go to https://www.wikipedia.org/ portal
- Click "English"
- see that I'm on the desktop site, logged in
- Click "Mobile view" link to force back to mobile site
- Manually go back to https://www.wikipedia.org/
- Click "English" again
- ...see that I'm on the desktop site again, still logged in
or
- Follow above procedure up to getting on English mobile site
- Go to a random article
- "Read in other languages", pick a language like Czech or Galician
- find I'm back on the desktop site in that language
Can anyone else reproduce this or have I just messed up my cookies?
