I am getting drowned in mails from random mail addresses (numbers)@qq.com, sent to wikials-l-owner@lists.wikimedia.org.

from: .*@qq.com X-Spam-Score:[^+]*[+]{6,}
This should hold posts from qq.com http://qq.com/ addresses as well as messages with a 6 or greater spam score. Please shout if the issue persists on wikials-l.

sorry, but I received another 600 such mails over night...
I think the point is that you added a filter to the list but these mails should be bounced by the MTA right away. In this case the mails aren't directed at the list but at the -owner alias, so I think Mailman filters are not effective here.

It is better to disallow delivery based on the sender address regexp in combination with subject regexp.
Sender is always /[0-9]+@qq.com/ Subject is always /.*只要投紸荭宝天天.*/
Feel free to entirely block every email matching the rules above and sent to any @wikimedia.org address.

I don't think unblock-zh is affected by the block anyhow ATM.
As far as I can see, the ban for entire qq.com is only for wikials-l. And the filter I've suggested is quite narrow.
But thanks for reminding the necessity to keep this list in mind when setting up the more effective blocking.

just a quick status update after about a day of investigations and work on it:
* At about 16:30 UTC we have lowered down the spam score neccessary for the mail to be rejected. This has decreased the number of spams passing through to about one third. So at least some progress for the time being. We couldn' t decrease the threshold further though as it could affect some regular emails. * We were testing various further filterings via matching of various things (since some used checkpoints in subjects varied during the time), because we didn't want to cut off the entire @qq.com. So the frequency of spams randomly oscillated. * At about 23:00 UTC we have tested the solution which seemed to finally catch everything properly as desired. So now there should be no such spams passing through, however, if senders will change the structure of the subject, mails will pop up again, although - due to the first point - still in lower frequency. * Should that happen, we are considering rejecting all mails from @qq.com (or <numbers>@qq.com) sent to any *-owner@lists.wikimedia.org address for the time being until narrower solution is set.

From the looks of it, it seems yahoo emails are being rejected (Florence
confirmed that all email messages that triggered the bounce, are @yahoo.fr ). So far, emails from a yahoo account to mailman ended up in spam filters of gmail recipients because of this http://www.pcworld.com/article/2141120/yahoo-email-antispoofing-policy-breaks-mailing-lists.html anti spoofing policy at yahoo. It may be that they are now all being bounced instead of marked as spam? Those bounces then end up at mailman, which thinks the recipient that sends a bounce, is no longer valid.
Not sure what would be the solution, other than people moving away from yahoo.
