Hello! I am an admin of the
https://lists.wikimedia.org/postorius/lists/wikipedia-en-editfilters.lists.…
mailing list. Starting some months ago, we get spam more or less on a daily
basis. We have all messages automatically held for approval, so our readers
aren't seeing the spam, rather myself and the other admin are burdened with
logging in and rejecting the emails every day.
Is there any advice on how to prevent this from happening? I am aware some
lists have moved to Google Groups. Would that help, you think? If so, how
might I go about migrating my mailing list to it? We have long banned the
email addresses, but it seems rarely we get spam from the same email twice,
so this tactic has not been very effective.
Thanks for any help you can provide,
~ MusikAnimal
Hello listadmins,
I've recently noticed that moderation request emails from Wikimedia lists
have the following standard instruction message:
If you reply to this message, keeping the Subject: header intact,
> Mailman will discard the held message. Do this if the message is
> spam. If you reply to this message and include an Approved: header
> with the list password in it, the message will be approved for posting
> to the list. The Approved: header can also appear in the first line
> of the body of the reply.
I thought Wikimedia lists no longer had a "list password" since we moved to
Postorius. Do the instructions need updating? If so, how?
I got this message as an admin of wikimania-l but presumably the same issue
applies to all legacy mailing lists that we migrated from the old mailman
server.

Hey list administrators!
This morning, I woke up to a couple hundred automatic unsubscribes for
bounces on the WikiApiary mailing list.
Did anything happen on the server side that may have caused this?
Mark.
