Dear Farhad,
sorry for the late reply, I was spending the last week in the sun at a lake
in Northern Germany :).
I'm really glad to hear about your efforts around this survey and getting
people to participate. I was just getting a message from the people
responsible for the survey asking us to send out reminders to our networks
because the responses up until now have been few (from all the networks).
The survey is still open until* September 10th:
<https://ec.europa.eu/eusurvey/runner/LTusers-consumers-wiki>. Until then
you can fill in, share or let me know what you think about this project.
Also, if you have suggestions of where I should post about this survey as
well, let me know! *
*Thanks for all the answers here and hope to hear from you! *
*Cheers from Berlin, *
*Maria *

Dear Maria and colleagues,
After the Arctic Knot I've shared these news with Tatar and wider
Wikipedia Languages of Russia community via a post in Russian Multilingual
Wikinews, English copy @
https://ru.wikinews.org/?curid=10407945
I later shared the news and website link with wider Tatar, Tatarstan and
Russian Federation level contacts of mine (Tatar NGOs, Tatar language News
Agency, World Congress of Tatars, Tatar Language Revitalization Commission
& responsible contacts in Tatarstan Presidential Administration, as well as
Russia's Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs), recommending interested
parties to take a look at the way the work is structured and possibly
respond to the survey and engage otherwise.
Yesterday I was interviewed by our regional Tatar language news agency
journalist for a short piece about ELE project.
regards,
farhad

Dear Iñaki,
Thanks for the response! I highly appreciate any spreading efforts of
this :)
Dear Gerard,
Thanks for getting back to me about this and your comments on language
technology
in the movement. As for your questions:
With a project that truly aims to support our users in all their
languages it may
not be necessary to remain a candidate.
The project - once finished - should inform
future funding programs and
activities of the European Commission. With this in
mind, I assume that
mostly *European under-resourced languages* will benefit from the project
and the future activities.
However, have you considered how you measure the effectiveness of future
language
supporting functionality?
The project partners won't be building
language technology in the course
of the project, but provide input for and and
come up with a strategic
agenda for the European Commission (which then hopefully will provide
funding for organizations to bring forward language technology for all
languages). If you are interested in metrics though: some of the project
partners are set out to find a definition and measurement for Digital
Language Equality to see if any actions taken in the future would actually
make a difference in trying to reach Digital Language Equality. The report
for this can be found on the website.
When will you call the project a success, what does it take for you to
know the
project to be a success?
The project will be considered a success in the
case that all EU member
states are signed on to bring forward Digital Language
Equality by 2030 and
the European Commission has set up the infrastructure for this accordingly
in the next 2 years.
Let me know what you think about my response and if that helps clearing
your
questions!
Cheers from Berlin,
Maria
