Working on Ukrainian subtitles, we translated everything, including English phrases on screen and in hardsubs. While playing, Ukrainian soft subtitles appear below English hard ones (they do not overlap) so it is ok for a viewer.

Hi Roxie, that is more complicated to do, as it is part of the post-production of the videos. At the moment, our videographer, Victor Grigas, is on sabbatical until October. However, we can start a shared document to translate these phrases, and I can make sure Victor gets it when he comes back and we see how we can incorporate them. Because it might imply to generate new videos for each language version, then we should figure out how to include the subtitles, etc.
Best,
María

Thank you so much, Maria! It´s done! ☺ I wonder whether we are going to translate the words in English we can see on the video or not. Should we?

Hi Roxi! Thank you so much for translating the captions to Spanish! You can start a new srt file in Spanish on Commons.
- On the file page
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikipedia_in_Education_(1_of_12)_Why_do_you_teach_Wikipedia%3F.webm, look at the description box under the "Summary" section. 2. You will see a template that says "Available close captioning", with a field to fill out, and a blue button that says "go". 3. Write "es.srt" on the open field, click "go" 4. Paste the translation of the subtitles with the time stamp.
We are working to add these subtitles to Youtube, as well, but it takes longer on that platform, as it's not built for collaboration, and someone at WMF Communications team has to handle those.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Best,
María
