Dear Collab members,
TL;DR: The Education Collaborative mailing list conversion is complete, and
archives are public from 23 October 2015 forward. You do not need to do
anything.
In August 2015, following an on-list discussion with list members, the
Collab mailing list settings were converted from “closed” to “public”, so
that anyone can subscribe and read the posted messages. A Phabricator task
was created [1] and a new list was created with the desired configuration.
Note: Because of how the Wikimedia mailing lists work is, archives are
either public or private. It’s not possible to have part of the archives
closed, and then open them after a certain date.
The list's older archives remain private and are saved on a separate list
called education-collab-private
<https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/education-collab-private> [2]
<https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/education-collab-private>. It
is accessible to current Collab members only and it contains all the
messages sent to the Collab list from March 3, 2014 (its beginning) until
October 23, 2015 (its conversion). This list is kept as an archive only. It
will not be used to send or receive any future messages.
The current education-collab
<https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/education-collab> [3]
<https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/education-collab> list is the
mailing list we are using now, and it has a public archive. You don’t need
to take any action. You are already subscribed to the list and can post to
it.
Please keep using education-collab(a)lists.wikimedia.org to send messages to
this list.
Thank you!
