Subject: [cultural-partners] Finding the most viewed Wikipedia articles on
education
To: "Wikimedia Chapters cultural partners coordination" <
cultural-partners(a)wikimedia.ch>
Cc:
Hi all
I'm doing some work with colleagues from the education sector at UNESCO to
look at improving some of the most viewed education articles on English
language Wikipedia.
I'm trying to use TreeViews to get information on what are the most viewed
articles in Category:Education, unfortunately such large categories just
crash my browser, it means I will have to split the query up into at least
50-100 smaller queries.
Does anyone know of a less manual way around this? Ideally the output would
be spreadsheet of the article title and the number of page views of the
article for a 30, 60 or 90 period in the recent past. I will use Treeviews
if it is the only way but I'd really love to save myself from half a day of
data entry. I imagine this would also be useful for people working with
other organisations for other subjects.
Thanks
John

Dear Collab members,
It was lovely meeting all of you in Stockholm! Hope you are all well and
had some time to rest. :)
We'd like to resume our monthly meetings, as well as "highlight of the
month" recording -
*1 - Monthly hangout meetings - *
Please fill out the doodles <http://doodle.com/poll/gizcrdfipieunr5y> with
the options most comfortable to you for both April & May *by this Thursday
(April 7th) @ midnight*. We'd like to have the April meeting sooner rather
than later (that's the reason for the deadline) and would like to save a
date for May as well.
*2 - "highlight of the month" - *
We need *2 volunteers* who would like their program / initiative to be
featured - one for April and one of May. Please reply to this email if
you'd like to be one.
See you all soon, :)
Shani.
Hello, Collab Colleagues :)
I just wanted to send a general update to this group, and a long overdue
follow up after our face-to-face meeting in Stockholm.
First of all, I want to offer another another round of thanks to everyone
who participated in Stockholm, and a special thanks to Sara from WMSE for
making sure things ran so smoothly.
I also want to thank Shani for stepping up and keeping us on track for our
next few monthly calls. It's important to keep these regular forums going,
and it's great to have support from you all to make sure it gets done :)
Through our time together in Stockholm we identified (and captured in the
graphic recording
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Art_in_the_Collab_4.JPG>) three
main things we wanted to work on, as well as short, mid and longterm goals:
(1) Dashboard, (2) Communications and (3) Mentoring.
I haven't been able to get these on Phabricator since I've been a bit
swamped. With the drastic downsizing of my team of 4 to currently one
person, a lot of my efforts have shifted to trying to staff up my team
again. I haven't been able to monitor Phabricator as closely as I'd like.*
If anyone has any interest in helping to organize our work coming out of
Stockholm on Phabricator and on wiki, please reach out to me :)*
Also, a new blog post (draft here
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T129511>) about our Stockholm meeting
and next steps as a group is being finalized. We should see it published
soon! Thanks to Melina, Paola and Sara for capturing and sharing our work
with the wider Movement.
Best wishes to you all,
Tighe

Dear Collab members,
I want to make you aware of the existence of the Wikipedia store
<https://store.wikimedia.org/>. You may know about the store already, but
what you may not know, is that you can ask the Education team to sponsor
gifts for volunteers. The Wikimedia Foundation can pay for those gifts (as
long as the request is reasonable, of course).
You can ask for gifts to thank and motivate cherished volunteers who work
hard to make the education program a success. You can also give out small
prizes to students in your education program to encourage them and give the
program a competitive element.
If you are interested in getting some swag from the store, please email
education(a)wikimedia.org with the specific request that you have and we will
work with you to get the swag to you!
Thanks!
