Hello Trust this email finds you in good health, The Ghana- India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE https://aiti-kace.com.gh/) is pleased to invite you to this year’s Software Freedom Day (SFD) on the theme ‘*Open Source for Digital Sovereignty’* on Saturday September 18, 2021 at 10am.
SFD is organised in partnership with Linux Accra User Group http://linuxaccra.org/, Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA https://digitalpublicgoods.net/) and UNICEF http://unicef.org/ with activities scheduled to climax on *Saturday September 18, 2021*.
Software Freedom Day http://softwarefreedomday.org/ (SFD) is an annual grassroots effort to educate the public on the virtues of Free/Open-Source Software (FOSS), including Digital Public Goods (DPG), and encourage its use, also in solving the world’s biggest societal challenges
The event which will be held in Bolga, Sunyani, Accra and in educational institutions across Ghana is intended to create awareness about the value and prospects of FOSS and DPGs for Ghana.
Activities to take place within the week and issues to be discussed during the celebration include:
- State of open source in Africa— Inter-country experiences - Public awareness on impact of open-source technology on Ghana’s growth - Introduction to Digital Public Good Alliance and Digital Public Goods - Exhibition of open-source software projects - Workshop on installation of Linux distributions - Harnessing open source to achieve organisational goals
