Guys,
Good progress, I have been off the boat for a little, had a little of an
offline project. I am back on a marathon... there is not much time, lets get
this done. Please feel free to delegate any dedicated tasks to me.
I will arrange for the Wikimedia rep to speak at one of the high profile
business meetups in Nairobi too as part of the schedule.
David.

Speaking of forms, I recommend making an effort to get as many people as
possible to give you permission to send them e-mail with Wikimedia
announcements. It's early, sure, but it's an opportunity to get the
attendees of the event to subscribe to any future announcements Wikimedians
in Kenya may want to make.
Even before you set up a mailing list, you can capture basic information
(name, affiliation [optional, of course], e-mail, phone [optional],
comments) with an online form (e.g. using Google Docs' "Form" feature; see
an example I used for the DevNations list (even before it existed) here --
https://spreadsheets0.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dE1KYTFxeWtwWTd…
).
Cheers,
Asaf

Hi all,
Just an idea, i was thinking that we could invite a representative of a
school magazine to the anniversary party.
Alex, brilliant idea on filling forms online. We will have to come up with
a way to advertise, posters maybe?
Abbas, as for jkuat[main campus], we go on our long holiday from mid
december till late april. It's going to be a challenge getting an audience
since 80%, if not more, of the school is at home.

After reserving space for company officials plus organizers - that's us
:) -
the following are my suggestions for getting guys truly interested in
Wikimedia's cause to attend:
* guys interested in attending could fill online forms giving a brief of
why they
wish to attend. We could use eventsbrite for this or something
similar.
* liase with campus IT clubs and lecturers as they can assist in
identifying guys
to attend from their institutions.
* invite existing local Wikimedia contributors e.g. Kwc participants,
Swahili
article authors e.t.c.
As for the number of guests, someone mentioned 50. Well I see it hitting
100 -
150, what do you guys think?
Alex!

we'll also invite students + teachers as well in an earlier email. I believe
that after Mr. Ting gives talks @ Uni's, students could also be informed
about the anniversary. The problem with randomly inviting a crowd of
students poses a threat of gatecrushing -- which brings me to the question:
how many guests are we aiming at?

Since the launch is on Friday 14th Jan, he could probably come on Monday
10th January. The purpose of his week-long trip could be to create some Wiki
excitement in Kenya.

get to remind them to attend the oncoming Friday launch.
