Hello
I got this proposition from Unesco during my holidays. I took time to
answer and then THEY took time in turn to answer.
So it is on very short delay.
What do you think ?
Anyone from Kenya interested and willing to go ?
I edited text out since this is a public mailing list. Contact me
directly to get the contacts.

Dear Florence,
<edited out>
Concerning the forthcoming IGF 2011 in Kenya, we are finalizing the
study on the local content which is linked to the economic aspects and
infrastructure. Soon, it will be available for the public view and
presented at the event mentioned above.

Regarding the session at the IGF, we are not planning to provide
interpretation for the workshop, unless the organizers will provide it.
The working language of the workshop is English. Regarding the travel
and accommodation, I am afraid we are not in a position to cover. We
were wondering whether Wikipedia plans to participate in any case.
Thank you for your attention and best regards,
Irmgarda

Hi guys
So after our meetup last Saturday, we settled on a couple of stuff pertaining to the road trip and can be found here:
http://etherpad.mozilla.com:9000/Kenya-Mozilla-Wikimedia-Outreach
I was tasked with coordinating contacts with Universities in order to determine the best time to visit them and of-course arrange for the visits as well. So with this, I've started a list of institutions that we can visit and grouped them. You can add to the list here: http://etherpad.mozilla.com:9000/Kenya-Road-Trip-Institutions
There's a suggestions section at the bottom so put up anything that you feel might make this process alot faster and easier to get through.
As for providing contact info, due to the privacy of your contacts, I thought it best not to make this info public so I created a separate form to collect contact info of the institutions listed in the link above. You can get the form here:

cheers,

Hi all,
Today we had a fantastic meeting with Eric Latiff Capital Fm News Presentor
and also KTN TV news anchor.
The members Present were Alex, Abbas, Oscar, Steve, Isaac and two guys from
the the Mozilla Team- Cliff and
*I am Glad to report that Eric is now a member of Wikimedia Kenya*,
We discussed a number of points as follows:
1. Wiki projects for Wikimedia Kenya, - the Projects that we are
undertaking/about to under take being Wiki takes Nairobi and the Road trip(
we are yet to come up with a name for this), we shared on making this
projects a success and Eric suggested that we promote it through social
networks and that we do it over a longer period say 2 weeks as opposed to a
1 day event.
2. Wikipedia for Schools- he suggested that we get some people probably
experienced scholars/authors to check on the offline content once its done,
this could even be in form of endorsement of the project by ICT board and/or
KIE - this will give us a boost.
He also promised his full support and commitment to our activities and said
that we keep him updated on our progress regarding registration, he is
willing and ready to help whenever possible.
for infor about our meeting in the morning you can check the link

Hi all,
Just got home and I'm super tired, so I'll be brief.
We had a busy time at the conference. Steve led Wikimedia's presence here and was totally awesome! Grace always made sure we made it for tea and lunch in time :) , Isaac did live updates with a bunch of guys via Skype and we even got to say hi to Fiona Apps (does Wikimedia outreach in UK) and gave her a glimpse of the ongoings here. Ann did great to chat down Steve's nerves before his presentation (he did great by the way) and ps, thanks for the ice cream , Abbas out of nowhere reinforced us with swag.
We also got invited to another event in Kabarak University which is a few Km from Nairobi. Steve should have more infor on this.
Ladies (as they prefer to be called) at the conference kept asking for Wiki earings! It took us a while to figure out what they meant. Pics coming up on that and Wiki heals.... :)
All in all, thumbs up to all WMKE members who managed to attend and plan this, Emmanuel, Manuel and Jessie for helping us setup our presentation and Asaf and Winifred from the Foundation for sending over Wikipedia swag and making sure they arrived on time.
Best,
Alex.
