Colleagues -
Five Research Libraries - Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard and Yale - along with OCLC colleagues have created a survey to gauge interest in the current features of OCLC's FAST<http://www.oclc.org/research/themes/data-science/fast.html> (Faceted Application of Subject Terminology) and potential enhancements. We'd like as many responses as possible--even from those who are not using FAST! Please share this link with anyone you know who applies subject terminology to metadata.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Next_Steps_for_FAST
We've beta-tested the survey, and it takes 5-15 minutes to complete.
You will likely see the survey on other lists that you subscribe to. Kate Harcourt at Columbia has volunteered to serve as coordinator for the survey, so please direct any questions about it to her at harcourt(a)columbia.edu<mailto:harcourt@columbia.edu>
The deadline for responses is 15 December 2017.
Thank you

I'm not sure if this was already mentioned in the 1Lib1Ref documentation, but I happened to come across the Citation Hunt tool, this might be handy for 1Lib1Ref

Hello #1lib1ref Wikimedia organizers!
You are getting this email if you expressed interest in organizing #1lib1ref this year, or supported organizing in previous years!
#1lib1ref will launch January 16! We’ll ask librarians to celebrate Wikipedia’s birthday by adding one reference to Wikipedia.
This is the third year we will be running the campaign ( see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Lessons if you want to learn from previous years).
Updating content
#1lib1ref is an opportunity to highlight the intimate and growing relationship between Wikipedia and libraries. We know librarians use Wikipedia for a variety of purposes, but specifically focusing on how our references work helps librarians and those they work with understand and enter our community -- and in turn educate their patrons about our community . If you would like to coordinate #1lib1ref in your area, here are the main steps:
1.
Begin outreach to you contact list for allies or partners you think
would be interested in #1lib1ref this year. We find that working with
regional library network organizations helps a lot. You may consider
contacting important partners, who can help you communicate during the
campaign now: to help them prepare blog posts, or other communications for
the campaigns. Examples from previous years can be found at:

Dear all,
the International Federation of Film Archives are planning a symposium
on "Sharing" on April 23-24 as part of their next annual conference
(22-27 April 2018) in Prague.
One of the organizers - Adelheid Heftberger, in CC - reached out to
ask whether I knew anyone who would be able to deliver an talk on
Wikidata there.
If that's you or you know someone who is active around film-related
matters on Wikidata, then please get in touch with her.
Submission deadline for proposals for the symposium is December 8, according to
http://nfa.cz/cz/industry/2018-fiaf/fiaf-2018/ .
Cheers,
Daniel
