dear list readers,
aggregators are doing such a good job, that it is geting hard to find a
thing for the normal user. This is the reason why the German aggregator for
EUROPEANA, die Deutsche Digitale Bibliothek
<https://www.deutsche-digitale-bibliothek.de/?lang=en>, has now launched a
specify platform only for archives in Germany.
<https://www.archivportal-d.de/info/about/> The new archive has just
launched its web presence but is far from portraying completely the
archives in Germany. But a start is done. Referring to licences the
collection are so divers as nature is. Hopefully this will change with in
the future to make reuse easier.
But right now You are invited to discover Free content within over 5
million entries.
best regards

Hello. After Wiki Loves Monuments in September, Wikimedia Spain launches a new contest. A Wikipedia challenge, like Umepedia, Catalan challenge, and many other. We invite you to participate in this challenge. You can create or improve articles about monuments in Spain, in every language.

Thank you.

dear all
I have been working a little on a GLAM Wiki repository [1]
I have noticed that it is quite complicated to browse what is going on and there is documentation a bit everywhere - mainly on outreach, wikipedia (in many languages) and wikimedia commons (you find links to relevant categories in the first session of the page [2] as a reference to including more institutions). I have started from the list of projects on Wikipedia in English [3] but there is so much more to add using the information on Wikimedia Commons.
please have a look and see if you can add documentation. it is indeed not a very comfortable interface.
I wonder if it would be possible to use Wikidata for such a repository. the interesting thing would be to have templates we can add to the different projects when talking about the same institution in the project pages and in the case studies, and to have data we can compare. that would be great but I don’t know how to do it.

Hello! As you know, Wikimedia Spain will run an editathon next Saturday at National Library. We have at this moment more than 100 people registred for it, and we have to add wikipedians as volonteers and organization.
The question is, Do you know which was the biggest editathon ever? Biggest related to people attending it, editing at the same place and the same time. I know that the largest editathon in time was the 35 hours editathon organized by Amical, and this Saturday Wikimedia Mexico will run a new one of 50 hours.
Thanks

Thank you Richard. I didn't know this one. Yes, I talk about an editathon with people in the room and only one place.

My guess is that this editathon from earlier this year may be the biggest with about 230 people. Most of them participated remotely, so if you want to know the biggest editathon with people all in one room that'll be something different.

Heritage (London, October 20, 2014)
You are cordially invited to a unique one day event in London, hosted by
the International Image Interoperability Framework community (
http://iiif.io/), about the use of images in and across Cultural Heritage

The day will focus on how museums, galleries, libraries and archives, or
any online image service, can take advantage of a powerful technical
framework for interoperability between image repositories. This event will
be valuable for senior leaders, organizational decision makers, repository
and collection managers, software engineers, and anyone interested in
exploring the wide range of use cases that are seamlessly enabled by the
framework. This is the only such event planned, so don't miss it!
The event will be held at the British Library Conference Centre on Monday
October 20, 2014.
REGISTER NOW ON EVENTBRITE! (http://bit.ly/iiiflondon2014)
Attendance is free, and widespread dissemination of the event is encouraged.
A detailed program is available at http://iiif.io/event/2014/london.html.

throughout the day with new and existing partners including multiple
national libraries, top tier research institutions, commercial providers
and major aggregators.
Please register now on EventBrite (http://bit.ly/iiiflondon2014), and join
