Apologies for the inconvenience with the Google Checkout not working yesterday.
Online memberships are available once again, with payments via PayPal (it also accepts credit card):

I'm checking with PayPal to make sure if / how we can also have a donate button of some kind, given we're not yet a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

I totally apologize for this! :( I just logged in and saw that! Google doesn't want us to have a donate button yet, until we have official IRS 501(c)(3) status. I'm trying to resolve this, but Google Checkout has no phone support!
Give me a little time to also get our PayPal payment method up asap.
