May I ask if there’s been any further discussion on confirming my access to the servers and adding me as a maintainer on the -owner list?

I believe that, per Cyberpower in https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/xtools/2015-June/000061.html and https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/xtools/2015-June/000063.html and others, that was what was happening; as long as "maintainer" doesn't come with specific obligations on my time, I'm fine with it.

I see no issue with this. We need backing from Max before we can give the OK, but you've got mine.

My only hesitation is the lack of will to commit any time to the project. Progress on any project requires a time commitment, and we really don't need dead weight that isn't willing to commit any time. I don't know what our activity threshold should be at this point, but we certainly need one. T13 On Jul 3, 2015 12:25 PM, "MusikAnimal" musikanimal@gmail.com wrote:

While I see T13’s concerns, L235 can still assist in bug fixes. He shouldn’t necessarily be assigned a task for the rewrite but he could hang around and fix the current codeset or environment if needed.

I was actually hoping that L235 would be willing to say that he'd commit to a certain level of activity that is reasonable for him to maintain. Even a person assigned to bug fixes needs a certain level of activity to be productive. T13 On Jul 3, 2015 12:37 PM, "Maximilian Doerr" maximilian.doerr@gmail.com wrote:

Fine.
Here's my commitment to the project:
"Unless I give prior notice of inactivity (either directly to this project or by notice on my user/user talk page), I commit to responding to all emails addressed to me within three (3) days of receiving them. I also commit to maintaining a *minimum* average activity level of one hour per week (total; this includes voice chat, testing, sysadminning, and everything else that I may do for this project)."
To be clear on my capabilities:
- I'd like to think I'm smart and creative; - I tinker a lot on my private small cluster; - I have experience administering Linux and (shamefully) Windows servers; and - I'm generally familiar with the Labs environment.
However:
- I have never taken a CS course of any kind; - I am *not* a good programmer, and I have *never* written in PHP (though I plan to learn); - My contribution will likely be very limited, mainly to the sysadmin side (unless something mentors me on PHP or something)
Just to be clear. (I'd like to think this is a "net positive" kind of thing; a little contribution with no possible negative is better than nothing.)

- I have experience administering Linux and (shamefully) Windows
servers; and
- I'm generally familiar with the Labs environment.
However:
- I have never taken a CS course of any kind;
- I am *not* a good programmer, and I have *never* written in PHP
(though I plan to learn);
- My contribution will likely be very limited, mainly to the sysadmin
side (unless something mentors me on PHP or something)
Just to be clear. (I'd like to think this is a "net positive" kind of thing; a little contribution with no possible negative is better than nothing.)

My only hesitation is the lack of will to commit any time to the project. Progress on any project requires a time commitment, and we really don't need dead weight that isn't willing to commit any time. I don't know what our activity threshold should be at this point, but we certainly need one. T13
