Hi Flo & all,
I would be very interested in collaborating on a shared proposal to Wikimania this year. A panel seems like a great idea.
I have not been very involved on the listserv and with the WREN group (apologies!), but as a refresher, I work with the CCCC Wikipedia Initiative to engage scholars in writing studies (i.e. rhetoric, composition, technical communication, literacy, and language studies) to edit Wikipedia as a form of public scholarship.
Cheers, Savannah
Hi all,
I'd be interested in joining this panel to talk about Wikimedia Australia's residencies.
There's a bit about a residency I did last year here: https://wikimedia.org.au/wiki/Wikimedian_In_Residence_Wrap_Up

I’d be happy to be involved. The two distinctive angles I have to offer are that 1) my residency is now explicitly about culturally diversifying Wikimedia projects- not just about the host institution’s collections. 2) using Wikidata queries to support my work on Wikipedia, e.g. to find translations into other languages of articles I’ve written. https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:MartinPoulter/queries/khalili

Hi all,
I don't know yet if I will go to Wikimania this year, but my colleague Hugo Lopez will go. We are part of a project from the Ministry of higher education and research: the ministry is funding 3 WIR per year in 3 big universities + 1 coordinator at Wikimédia France. This project started last month.
And if I come, I can also organize a WikiCheese session ;)

Hi all,
I'm still keen to be involved, but I will be away from Wednesday this week until mid-April and I won't be checking emails. So I probably can't be much help around the application process.
Regardless, I'll be at Wikimania, so if there's still a possibility of joining this panel I'll be there and can check in with everyone when I get back.
Thanks

Hi all,
I'm still keen to be involved, but I will be away from Wednesday this week until mid-April and I won't be checking emails. So I probably can't be much help around the application process.
Regardless, I'll be at Wikimania, so if there's still a possibility of joining this panel I'll be there and can check in with everyone when I get back.
Thanks

I would like to join the panel discussion to share my experiences of how images are collected and uploaded onto the Wikimedia Commons via the various Wiki Loves events that are organized annually by Wikimedia communities. As one of the lead coordinators of these events at Dagbani Wikimedians User Group, I would like to highlight the successes and challenges in getting the various images onto Wikimedia commons over the few past years. I may be participating online if I'm unable to secure a scholarship to attend onsite.

Hello everyone,
I just found this thread in my mailbox and am feeling really sorry for taking so long to respond. I'm the Wikimedian in Residence at Pérez Art Museum Miami. I would love to contribute in any capacity to the panel and this conversation. As of now, my work is leaning towards reparations as PAMM's collections are focused on 20th and 21st-century art from the U.S. Latino experience, the African diaspora, Latin America, and the Caribbean. I'm also an Art+Feminism Regional Ambassador, serving institutions and organizations in New York and Brazil -my home country.
Thanks, and be well! -Michaela
I love it when people show up on the very last hours (sleep time for I) when this has been up for 2 weeks :)))
Anyway... I have no idea if we can change the pretalx after the call is closed. That does not seem a great move to me. Edits to the wiki page are likely to be erased indeed. I also do not know if the jury looks at the pretalx entries or the wiki entries... So no changes for now.
In any cases, let's see if the submission is accepted. And if it is, we will have more time to refine who joins
Cheers

Hello friends
It is my honor and my privilege to inform you that our WREN panel at Wikimania has been accepted !
Yooohooo !
https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2023:Program/Submissions/Learn_and_disc...
So to make things move forward, we first need to know who will then actually be attending Wikimania in person. I put nice little boxes for you to directly indicate whether you will be joining the panel, directly on the wiki.
_*Please edit the wiki directly*_ (this will be a nice way to have the usernames collected) by checking your box "yes". Do not forget to log-in...
Thanks

Thank you for the nice news Florance!
I remain interested to contribute in whichever form I can and was even to help with in local onsite organizing with professional connection I have to Art+Science Museum in Singapore to maybe do activity there...however during my organizing of Queering Wikipedia 2023 days (as I lost control over email flux) I got negative reply to my scholarship and I only saw it very recently.
I am personally disapointed considering the presented 3 themes (Diversity. Collaboration. Future.) and the fact that I never attended, have no national or other affiliates in both Croatia and Bosnia&Herzegovina, that I was not selected even for partial scholarship waiting list and given any elaboration... that just feels very strange and alienating. I would really look for lists of distribution of participants, their actual diversity, collaboration extent and 2030 engagement.
Anyway hope others got it better and have more options to fund their travel and stay. I will follow up with online participation plan unless something changes. I would encourage others who want to coordinate for online-only access also to get in touch.

Hi all,
I'm still keen to be involved, but I will be away from Wednesday this week until mid-April and I won't be checking emails. So I probably can't be much help around the application process.
Regardless, I'll be at Wikimania, so if there's still a possibility of joining this panel I'll be there and can check in with everyone when I get back.
Thanks

Unfortunately, I won't be present at Wikimania - I also applied for a scholarship without success - but can happily collaborate with folks in an online initiative.
Very best, Michaela

Hi all,
I'm still keen to be involved, but I will be away from Wednesday this week until mid-April and I won't be checking emails. So I probably can't be much help around the application process.
Regardless, I'll be at Wikimania, so if there's still a possibility of joining this panel I'll be there and can check in with everyone when I get back.
Thanks

Best Z. Hi all,
Unexpectedly, I’m both able to attend Wikimania and receiving a scholarship, so have added myself to the panel list. It will be good to see you folks in Singapore! And for the first time ever there will be more than one New Zealander at Wikimania.

This is fantastic news to hear this panel is approved. I will be attending in person and will be happy to talk about my own residency at the Australian Performing Arts Collection and other recent residency programs run by Wikimedia Australia.
I'm looking forward to hearing the discussion around everyone's experiences.

Hello everyone
Good news... whilst submissions are now closed, Butch informed us that we could continue editing the pretalx entry.
Problem is that... _in spite of that statement... I am not able to edit the pretalx. I asked for advice on how to fix the situation_
This is the draft document you should edit :https://etherpad.wikimedia.org/p/WiRs2023-2030
This is the outcome : https://wikimania.wikimedia.org/wiki/2023:Program/Submissions/Learn_and_disc...
So, on the list, I currently have (submitted)
Currently interested to join the panel * Florence Devouard, WIPO WIR * Lane Raspberry : * Z. Blace : WIR in cultural organizations in Croatia * Savannah Cragin : CCCC Wikipedia Initiative * James Gaunt : Wikimedia Australia's residencies. * Martin Poulter : * Pierre-Yves Beaudouin : * Hugo Lopez : *Rute Correia: Wikimedian in residence at NOVA FCSH, via Wikimedia Portugal * Michaëla Blanc :Wikimedian in Residence at Pérez Art Museum Miami.
Please do not let me Look for/invent your title. If you want your title entered on the presentation, add the precise information on the pad and/or on the wiki :)

Hi,
I'm still uncertain if I will come or not (tbh, it will mainly depend on if I've got a scholarship or not) but if I'm here, I'll be glad to share my experience (like Martin, including the use of Wikidata).

Hi,
I don't see why it should be limited to GLAM only. In fact, last year, I did a shared residency between a GLAM and a University, I would love to share this experience and how it was beneficial for both organisations ;)
