Greetings,
As all of you may already know, the local organizers of WPWP Hindi
community have decided to allow newcomers (who joined less then a year ago
and with less than 330 edits) to participate in the WPWP from Hindi
Community. This message is to clarify our decisions.
The reasons we are allowing newcomers are the following:
- Absence of significant damaging edits from participants.
- Relatively low number of edits (>200 counts so far,) making monitoring
feasible.
- Clear warning and local guidelines stating what the participants
should or shouldn't do.
Thanks & Regards
Dear local coordinators of the WPWP Campaign,
We are excited that the WPWP Campaign is having a huge impact as more than
6000 articles have been improved with photos in about 100 languages
Wikipedia in the last 72 hours.
However, there are concerns about the level of disruption caused by brand
new editors, which includes adding irrelevant images to articles, poor
formatting, insertion of the hashtags to mainspace, and defacing articles
with unnecessary photos.
There is at least one thread at the English Wikipedia administrators
noticeboard about this problem. We have extensively reviewed the concerns,
feedback, and have decided to review the eligibility criteria as an
emergency response to minimize the level of disruption.
The eligibility criteria have been reviewed to include only users who have
registered their account for at least 1 year and had made at least 300
mainspace edits to any language Wikipedia before July 1st, 2020 would be
eligible to participate in the WPWP Campaign.
You are encouraged to update your local pages accordingly to reflect these
new changes.
We apologize for any inconvenience that may result from these changes
With best regards,

Hello everyone,
We hope this email finds you well.
Today, Magnus announced a new version of the Fist tool he developed for the
WPWP Campaign.[1]
It has an index of thousands of articles with missing images in 10
languages Wikipedia. The articles and the corresponding images are placed
side-by-side.
This is a very useful tool and we are happy to share it with you.
Regards
Isaac

Hello Piyush,
Thanks for your interest in the WPWP Campaign and we are excited that you
will be organizing the campaign in your home Wiki. Please find our
responses inline below.
1. Can we use our own articles list to add images?
*Yes, you can use your own article lists to add images and you can also use
articles created by others. *
2. Are articles should be of some agreed quality to be considered for the
contest?
*We have no strict rules on the quality and length of articles. Images can
be added to articles of any quality acceptable by the Wikipedia community
including stubs. However, the image caption and description must be clear
and be suitable for the article. *
3. If I add multiple images in a article, all n number of images will give
points?
*No. points are awarded per number of articles improved with photos*
4. Or we have to use pre approved list of images to add?
No. We have no pre-approved list of images. Participants may use any images
of their interest. You may wish to select one or more sets of underutilized
images of particular relevance to you and your community. Although, we have
highlighted some priority categories
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos/Participate/…>.
But you are not mandated to use them if you do not find them interesting.

Hello everyone,
We have about 10 days to the WPWP Campaign and we are excited about your

know about the campaign before it begins in July.
The WPWP social media handle on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram is
@WPWPCampaign. Please follow, engage, and tag these handles on various
social media platforms.
Feel free to use the WPWP Campaign promotion banner and the logo
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WPWP_logo_1.png>. They have been
released under a free license (CC-BY-SA). You are free to adapt the banner
in your local language.
We have also attached a T-shirt prototype for your use if you would like to
give out a shirt as a gift to participants, jurors or active members of the
organizing team in your community

We want you to keep you
Dear organizers of WPWP Campaign,
It's three weeks to the WPWP Campaign
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos> and the
International Organizing Team is happy to provide the necessary supports
for you to run a successful campaign.
Please take a look at the organizer's guide
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos/Participate/…>
as this guide would be useful for you in planning your local campaign. If
you wish to provide a local prize, we encourage you to do so.
You may need a rapid grant
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid> to fund the local
prizes and edit-a-thon. We strongly advise that you apply before 15th June
2020, as after that date WMF may not receive and process grant applications.
*Campaign metrics*
We want to ensure that tracking of metrics is easy and flexible for all the
participating communities. We will be using a double hashtag to track
metrics for the WPWP Campaign in July; the general hashtag (#WPWP) and your
community-specific hashtag (eg. #WPWPNG for Nigeria, #WPWPBR for Brazil).
Please, remind the participants from your community to add the hashtag
#WPWP and your community-specific hashtag to edits summaries of articles
improved with photos.
The hashtag tool would track the following metrics:
1. Total number of articles improved with photos
2. The list of articles improved with photos
3. The total number of participants from your community
4. Ranking of users in descending order of contributions
5. The total number of language Wikipedia improved
Please email your community-specific hashtag to me directly or simply reply
to this email with it for configuration.
Kindly note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, #WPWP Campaign
activities/events are strictly online.
Please let us know if you require further information.
