Dear everyone,
We are glad to inform you that we have been asked by WikiAfrica management
to take over the WikiAfrica Twitter handle for this month from 25 July to
31 August 2021. This is a big opportunity for us to further promote the
campaign on social media.
Please follow the WikiAfrica handle on Twitter @WikiAfrica and the
#WPWPCampaign @WPWPCampaign.
On a side note, I have drafted a learning pattern on how to organize a
multilingual campaign
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Learning_patterns/How_to_organize_a_multili…>
.[1]
Your feedback and endorsement would be appreciated.
Please let us know if you require further information.
With best regards,
Isaac Olatunde

Hello Isaac,
I've some exciting news to share with you.
1. Our local chapter, Wikimedia Bangladesh (WMBD) has joined us as the
organizer. They'll take care of the prizes and help to organize the
campaign in Bangladesh. Tanvir bhaiya <wikitanvir(a)gmail.com>(User:Wikitanvir)
will collaborate with us from WMBD. We're planning to arrange weekly
discussion sessions on zoom where the participants will be able to interact
with us directly. We've found this technique useful in our previous
editathons.
2. I invited Notre Dame English Club (NDEC) to encourage their members to
participate in this campaign and they agreed. This Notre Dame College
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notre_Dame_College,_Dhaka>(NDC)-based
extra-curricular organization is the oldest and the largest English club in
Bangladesh as I know. Nafis Sadiq <saadiqnafis(a)gmail.com> is collaborating
from their side. We're trying to arrange training sessions for them as
early as possible. I would like to thank the hon'ble moderator of
NDEC, Suranjita
Barua madam <suranjitabarua16(a)gmail.com> (Senior Lecturer, English Dept.,
Notre Dame College) for her kind cooperation. Our monitoring tool is saying
<https://hashtags.wmflabs.org/graph/?query=WPWPBN> that NDEC member Tazim
<tazim4769(a)gmail.com> ( User:Your Poltergeist O3) is in the 4th position
right now. Best wishes to him! It's amazing to see them signing up for
Wikipedia with little or no training and jumping to the top of the list
within hours. They've also shown interest to help enriching NDC, Dhaka
related articles in Bangla, English and Simple English Wikipedia in the
upcoming days.
If the inclusion of NDEC in this campaign shows a notable impact on our
campaign, we'll try to include similar educational institutions or
co-curricular organizations in our next campaigns.
3. Our review team is experiencing some problems using the hashtag
monitoring tool. They've reported the tool to be slow. It takes time to be
updated. Besides the reverted "wrong edits" are also being shown in the
tool. So our reviewers can't get the exact metrics after reviewing. I'll
grateful if you help us with these issues.
Best,
Mrb Rafi.
Dear organisers,
First of all, thank you for your support with the project!
I would like to request that the banner from territory of Ukraine and from
the Ukrainian Wikiprojects would point to either the local page
http://wpwp.wlm.photo or to the translation into Ukrainian at Meta
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos_2021/uk
If it is possible to choose, we prefer the local page on Wikipedia, so
people are not confused by going to Meta
Also the English language is off putting to users...
Are you able to help with this?

Dear local organizers,
We are really excited about your planning for the Wikipedia Pages Wanting
Photos <https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Pages_Wanting_Photos_2021>
this
year. The campaign has started on the 1st of July 2021 and we are glad that
it's going on smoothly.
We want to request that you help the international team in monitoring
participation from your community and fix any errors inserted into articles
by participants, especially new editors.
This is important to minimize the occasional disruption from new editors.
You have been provided with your community-specific hashtag. Thus, you
could see the list of participants from your community and the articles
they added photos.
Training for new editors is important and we encourage you to organize at
least one or more training to support their participation and please let us
know if there ways we could provide support for you.

Dear organisers of the #WPWPCampaign 2021,
It's about one week to the start of the #WPWPCampaign 2021 and we are
documenting local campaign pages.
If you designed a local page for the campaign, please share the page with
us so that we can document it. If you do not have any local page for the
campaign, that is not a problem.
Regards,
Isaac
Hello Isaac,
According to your mail, participants from Bangla Wikipedia will need to add
two hashtags (#WPWP and #WPWPBN) in their edit summaries. Will their
contribution be counted for international prizes?
I mean is this like I've used these two hashtags in my edit summaries in
bnwiki and after getting prize in Bangla Wiki if my contributions are
enough to consider me as a winner in the international prize categories,
will I get counted?
In other words, what one do if he wants to contribute in bnwiki but compete
for the international prize categories (not the local prize)? Will any
local competitor's contribution be counted for the international prize?
Best,
Mrb Rafi.
Hello everyone,
We hope this email finds you well and you are staying safe amidst the
ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
We are really excited about the planning for the 2021 edition of the
#WPWPCampaign. We want to thank you for the time and energy invested in
planning for this campaign in your various communities across the globe.
This year, the campaign will be organized locally by at least 45 Wikimedia
affiliates in 40 countries. This is a 43% increase in the total number of
participating communities last year.
The campaign will run from the 1st of July to 31st of August 2021 and we
plan to do a global launching of the campaign in all social media networks
on the 1st of July 2021.
On that day, we want all participating communities as well
as individual participants to make a post about the campaign on all their
social media networks in your language (Twitter, Facebook, and instagram)
with the hashtag #WPWPCampaign2021.
You may use this texts in your post or any texts of your choice
"*Help connect millions of photos with millions of Wikipedia pages that
need them. Let’s make Wikipedia more visually exciting!"*
The campaign handle on all social media networks is *#WPWPCampaign. *Please
tag this handle in your posts. Follow us on social media, if you haven't
done so already.
We have attached in this email the campaign banner (in English) for this
year and another version without the texts for
non-English language speakers who may want to have the banner in their
local languages.
Please let us know if you require additional clarifications or information.
