I undesrtand your point.
However:

The copyright-violating message clearly says that all user *must* discuss and reach a consensus before editing.
The {{Đang dịch 2}} will worth what Danny B. is asking for; but there are already other templates that can take benefit from {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}}. They are *automatic* image tag templates: when user upload "unkown"/"somewebsite" image, they will be expired. That's the original drive for me to ask for {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} ({{CURRENTTIMESTAMP}} is not applicable here).

I have tested it. It works: we got the last revision date of the page that includes the template.

Oh, I forgot, this is the same problem we've been having: magic words
aren't enough. We need a way to get the last revision date of the page
that included the template, not the last revision date of the template
itself.

This will be very useful for creating "expiring templates". Thanks Trung!

I know this won't be an issue with the month calendar template that I
wrote at Wikipedia [1], but will this possibly break Trần Thế Trung's
very complex Viet->IPA converter at Wiktionary [2]? It probably doesn't,
but we should make sure: since Tim Starling isn't going to make this
change for a few days, we have time to subst: the template if anything
will get broken.

Mong là họ không cập nhật phần mềm ở các dự án Wikimedia sớm quá, tại vì
các định dạng ngày tháng sẽ bị bể xấu lắm...
Hopefully they don't upgrade the Wikimedia projects too soon, because
the date formats would be horribly broken...

Looks like we'll need to come up with some kind of project page
explaining this transition:
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Single_login_specifications>. According
to Meta, we'll be moving to "single login" within the next few weeks, so
everyone is encouraged to make sure their passwords and e-mail addresses
are up-to-date and consistent across the various projects. (Accounts
with identical names, e-mail addresses, and passwords across different
projects will be easiest to deal with.)

Yes, it could be useful, some Wikipedia articles can be easily transwiki to Wikisource/Wiktionary (while keeping the history?) .

This is a little late, but I'm still catching up from being away from
e-mail for a few weeks...
I could see this being useful for transwiki'ing pages from Wikipedia to
Wiktionary or Wikisource. What do you think? We can get push-button
transwiki'ing enabled for the Vietnamese Wikipedia.

I've patched up some old problems with Special:Import and Special:Export:
* Import updates categories etc
* Imports are logged and reviewable in Special:Log/import
* Imported pages also get a null edit in the history indicating the
import and
its source
* Export is fixed up to allow fetching history for shorter pages, while
still
aborting to avoid bogging down the servers on longer pages (currently
set to a
cutoff of 100 edits)
* Transwiki import allows selecting the import-with-history
Wikis wishing transwiki import capability should let us know which wikis
they
want to be able to import directly from (for instance, from a wikipedia ->
wiktionary) and we can enable it.
Please pass this notice on to wikis where it will be of interest.
