Hey all,
This is a quick heads up that there is an upcoming change to the way section edit links are generated, and a relatively minor design update as well.
There is a pretty comprehensive explanation of what this is, why, the timeline, etc. on Meta: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Change_to_section_edit_links

well.

Would this also be worth adding to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.22/wmf3 ? It seems to align with that roll-out.

Good news! Who's going to remove the local customisations on the wikis having some, as soon as the new release is deployed? (Can't be the community because we don't know at what exact time and minute it happens.)

We do know what general day it will happen though. I normally just make Village Pump announcements for each one when appropriate. I don't know precisely yet where/how each wiki is customizing the section edit links, so help would be appreciated.

It can be the community perfectly well, as the worst that can happen in all practical situations once the change is live is that the customizations will stop doing anything. It has been specifically crafted to work in this way.
Nothing should break, get messed up or start throwing errors, unless someone coding the customizations really didn't know what they are doing. Things will just get "disabled".

Ah. Thank you. The announcement doesn't contain this quite critical piece of information, someone please fix it.
