Hi,
The latest technical newsletter is now available at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Tech/News/2019/40%3E. Below is the English version.
You can help write the next newsletter: whenever you see information about Wikimedia technology that you think should be distributed more broadly, you can add it to the next newsletter at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/Next%3E.
More information on how to contribute is available at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News#contribute%3E. You can also contact me directly.
As always, feedback (on- or off-list) is appreciated and encouraged.

Latest *tech news https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Tech/News* from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Tech/News/2019/40 are available.
*Problems*
- Last week's Tech News had delivery problems. Some did not get the newsletter. Some got it more than one time. The problem where some pages got it three times should now be fixed. [1] https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T232379
*Changes later this week*
- [image: Recurrent item] The new version https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.34/wmf.25 of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 1 October. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 2 October. It will be on all wikis from 3 October (calendar https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.34/Roadmap).
*Meetings*
- [image: Recurrent item] [image: Advanced item] You can join the technical advice meeting on IRC. During the meeting, volunteer developers can ask for advice. The meeting will be on 2 October at 15:00 (UTC) https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20191002T15. See how to join https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Technical_Advice_IRC_Meeting.
*Future changes*
- The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Tech is working on a watchlist expiry feature https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Tech/Watchlist_Expiry. This means you can put things on your watchlist for a period of time instead of forever. They are looking for feedback on the questions they have https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Tech/Watchlist_Expiry#Open_Questions . - Special:Contributions https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions will get the standard OOUI look https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/UX_standardization. This makes it easier to use on mobile and makes it look like other Special: pages. There is a script https://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/User:Jdlrobson/compactspecialcontributions.css you can use to make the form smaller if you want to.
