We've temporarily disabled CirrusSearch's insource:// syntax because we believe it was that cause of two CirrusSearch outages this week. We'll reenable it when we're confident it won't break anything and we'll send another email to this list.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks! insource is amazing, thanks for working on it. The priority now is of course extending Cirrus to all remaining wikis; if re-enabling insource everywhere proves hard, please consider starting with the small wikis.

Hi Nikolas,
Is my understanding correct that only RegEx search with insource was disabled, and you can still use regular "plain match" search in Wikitext with insource?

You are correct. Only the regex flavor is disabled. The plain flavor still works.
I've got into contact with upstream about the issue and started work on a patch to fix it. I'm intentionally not linking to the issue because it might be a security issue for others who expose RegEx search like we do. Its a pretty rare feature but I figure being paranoid isn't that bad here.
