The latest technical newsletter is now available at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Tech/News/2018/45%3E. Below is the English version.
You can help write the next newsletter: whenever you see information about Wikimedia technology that you think should be distributed more broadly, you can add it to the next newsletter at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/Next%3E.
More information on how to contribute is available at < https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News#contribute%3E. You can also contact me directly.
As always, feedback (on- or off-list) is appreciated and encouraged.

*Recent changes*
- You can now use TemplateWizard https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Help:Extension:TemplateWizard to edit templates. This works only with the 2010 wikitext editor https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Extension:WikiEditor and not in the visual editor or the 2017 wikitext editor https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/2017_wikitext_editor. If you click on [image: Puzzle icon]you can enter the information in a pop-up. You can turn on TemplateWizard in your beta feature preferences. [1] https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T202545
*Changes later this week*
- You can choose to see edit conflicts in a two-column view. This is a beta feature. You can find it in your preferences. The interface for the two-column edit conflict will change. You can read more https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WMDE_Technical_Wishes/Edit_Conflicts#Solution:_Solving_edit_conflicts_line_by_line_(new_beta_feature) . - When you edit with the visual editor you can use the "Automatic" citation tab. This helps you generate citations. You will now be able to write plain text citations or the title of a journal article or a book in this tab. This will search the Crossref https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:Crossref and WorldCat https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/en:WorldCat databases and add the top result. [2] https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T198567 - [image: Recurrent item] The new version https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.33/wmf.3 of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 6 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 7 November. It will be on all wikis from 8 November (calendar https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki_1.33/Roadmap).
