If we are going to alert our communities to be aware, knowing the internal version is quite helpful.
Hey, sorry for the lack of clarity
The first, very minor breaking change (switching to jQuery 1.11.x with jQuery Migrate) went out two weeks ago in 1.24wmf6, but should not have broken much if anything (as only a very few very-broken functions were not included in the Migrate hack).
The "real", more major breaking change (switching off jQuery Migrate) will, as I said, happen "around September when MediaWiki 1.24 is released ".
(There's another breaking change related to 1.24wmf8 for third party users, but that won't affect any Wikimedia wikis.)
