Hello sir/ma'am
My name is Prikshit Tekta, i am a final year B.Tech student at NIT
Hamirpur.
This year I intend to contribute to MediaWiki as a summer intern. Since I
am a new to mediaWiki, i am quite not getting the way to start from.
I shall be highly grateful if you could just guide me for this summer
internship 2016.

As a response to a security incident, we will be logging out all users
shortly. [1] We don't think the incident had real-world impact but prefer
to err on the side of security. After considering various aspects (such as
the effect on upcoming software deployments, and finding a time when most
people are asleep), we decided to do this on very short notice. I apologize
for the disruption.
You can find more information at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T124440
If this causes any unexpected problems (apart from having to log in again),
please report them there.
[1] We have actually done so progressively over the last week, but that
method turned out to be unacceptably slow, and we found a way to do it all
at once.

WMF Reading Infrastructure
Hi all,
we had reports of a serious authentication error that resulted in people
being logged into the wrong account. We are trying to collect information
about what happened, and how many users it might have happened to. Please
reach out to users on your wikis and ask them if they have experienced
anything like that in the last two weeks. If someone did, please tell us
here or at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T126069 (where you can also
find more information about the issue).
To be on the safe side, we are in the process of logging everyone out
(which takes a while, so it might have happened to you this week, or it
might happen in the next few days). Apologies for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Gergő

Hi everyone,
Because of https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T120433 I'm trying to
create a list of bots that in some way handle dead links, especially
if they in some way move them to the Internet Archive's Wayback
Machine. I'm aware of bots on the English, German, French, Spanish and
Italian Wikipedias. If you know of any others, I'd be grateful if
you'd let me know.
(You can reply to me privately.)
Thanks. (:

Hello,
I am writing to let you know that Pygments, the library we use for
syntax-highlighting, has been updated to the latest release (version 2.1)
in the SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi extension and across Wikimedia wikis. This
release includes support for 53 new languages and language variants.
They are listed below, with the lexer name (the string to use as a value
for the 'lang' attribute of <syntaxhighlight lang=...> tags) in parenthesis:
- ABNF ("abnf")
- ADL ("adl")
- Arduino ("arduino")
- BC ("bc")
- BNF ("bnf")
- Boogie ("boogie")
- CAmkES ("camkes", "idl4")
- CPSA ("cpsa")
- CSS+Mako ("css+mako")
- Component Pascal ("cp", "componentpascal")
- Crmsh ("pcmk", "crmsh")
- Csound Document ("csound-csd", "csound-document")
- Csound Orchestra ("csound", "csound-orc")
- Csound Score ("csound-score", "csound-sco")
- Earl Grey ("earlgrey", "earl-grey", "eg")
- Easytrieve ("easytrieve")
- Elm ("elm")
- Ezhil ("ezhil")
- Fish ("fishshell", "fish")
- FortranFixed ("fortranfixed")
- HTML+Mako ("html+mako")
- Hexdump ("hexdump")
- J ("j")
- JCL ("jcl")
- JavaScript+Mako ("js+mako", "javascript+mako")
- LessCss ("less")
- MSDOS Session ("doscon")
- Mako ("mako")
- ODIN ("odin")
- PacmanConf ("pacmanconf")
- ParaSail ("parasail")
- PkgConfig ("pkgconfig")
- PowerShell Session ("ps1con")
- Praat ("praat")
- QML ("qbs")
- QVTO ("qvt", "qvto")
- Roboconf Graph ("roboconf-graph")
- Roboconf Instances ("roboconf-instances")
- Shen ("shen")
- SuperCollider ("sc", "supercollider")
- TAP ("tap")
- Tcsh Session ("tcshcon")
- Termcap ("termcap")
- Terminfo ("terminfo")
- Terraform ("terraform", "tf")
- Thrift ("thrift")
- TrafficScript ("trafficscript", "rts")
- Turtle ("turtle")
- TypeScript ("typescript")
- X10 ("xten", "x10")
- XML+Mako ("xml+mako")
- cADL ("cadl")
J and BNF were previously supported by mapping them to other languages with
close-enough syntax: Objective-J and Extended BNF, respectively. Each of
those now has a dedicated lexer, so the highlighted output should hew more
closely to the language definition.

Hey folks :)
The in other projects sidebar is a feature that adds links to articles
on other projects to the sidebar. So for example on the Wikivoyage
article about Berlin it links to the respective content on Wikipedia,
Commons and so on.This works similar to the language links that you
already have in the sidebar of an article. It is intended to make more
content available to our users and bring our projects closer together.
The in other projects sidebar has been around for many months now. It
has been a beta feature on all wikis and default on a handful. It
can't stay a beta feature forever and we should decide on its faith
now. I am happy with the reactions we have been getting about it and
believe it adds significant value for our readers and editors on
smaller projects. I therefor want to enable it on all projects. This
will happen in January. The exact date is still being decided.
If for some reason your project decides it does not want this feature
please let me know and we'll disable it for you.
The ticket for tracking this is https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T103102
Cheers
Lydia
