Hi folks,
I have been monitoring Steve's Etherpad and I have not seen much activity on it. I would like to suggest that we nominate our reps to Chapters Conference through the list and if more than two people will be willing, I will be more that happy to administer the doodle vote ( I am not interested)
We really have a tight timeline to stick to so if you would like to Nominate someone or yourself, please do so on the list (with a good enough reason and proof of dedication to WMKE IMO :-) ) . We have less than three days for that so lets do this ASAP.
And then we can schedule the Board election meetup to the 11th as suggested in order to make better preparations for the same.
Yours,

Great!
Without thinking twice, I'd like to nominate Steve Wanjau Wathika. He's really been up to everything lately. I like his dedication to the the WMKE community! I hope everyone sees that!

Hey guys,
I just wanted to take the poll - but no-one has registered yet as a potential participant. It's not enough to declare your candidacy on this list. You also have to register as participant on the poll so that all WMKE members (presumably invited by Limoke as I was) can actually vote. Get cracking, guys!

Guys, I'm confused: The doodle vote doesn't mention candidates for the ChapConf but dates (Feb 2, 3 or 4). However, it sounded like we do the ChapConf representative vote via doodle, and then meet for Board elections and other business at iHub on Feb 11 (with agenda as of Steve's etherpad). Right? So where's the doodle vote on the participants? Best, Oliver (aka BT)

BT,
The idea was to get the attention of those keen to represent us. Then I will add their names on the doodle. So far we have : Steve, Isaac and Edna. Still waiting for anyone still keen before I make the list of people to poll.
PS: TO all those interested, The ChaoConf is a very engaging conference. Chapters share their experinces and lots of talking presenttons are done. Please be sure to have touch with all the current and previous projects if WMKE. it would be embarrasing for you to represent us yet you can not articulate and share our successes and failures with the rest if the wikimedia community.
On that note, I wouod suggest like last year anyone oeen on going shoukd share with us what he/she has done or has participated in wmke prohects. That way, members will be better placed to decide who wilk represent us well. so get sharing and nominating ahd rem deadline for nominating someone or yourself is.....suggest please?

Hi folks,
I have been monitoring Steve's Etherpad and I have not seen much activity on it. I would like to suggest that we nominate our reps
to
Chapters Conference through the list and if more than two people
will
be willing, I will be more that happy to administer the doodle
vote (
I am not interested)
We really have a tight timeline to stick to so if you would like to Nominate someone or yourself, please do so on the list (with a good enough reason and proof of dedication to WMKE IMO :-) ) . We have less than three days for that so lets do this ASAP.
And then we can schedule the Board election meetup to the 11th as suggested in order to make better preparations for the same.

Alex,
I'd suggest we use the metrics we did last time:
- Number of meetups attended
- Duration of contribution to wmke
I think I forgot some :)
*A brief explanation of your contribution to WMKE over the past year
So am creating the final Doodle poll but I would like to point out that NOT all the people who have shown interest meet the above threshold. We had quite a number of physical meetups last year and am sorry to say I did not see some of you guys in ALL if not MOST of them. Since that is part of the Chapters agreed Criteria. I may LOCK out some participants who DO NOT meet the above threshold.
So if you do not meet the threshold above, Kindly withdraw to save me the agony of doing so.PLUS WE are still waiting a brief reason of your contribution to WMKE and WHY you should represent us.
Finally, We had some discussion as to who is eligible to vote too. So NOT everyone subscribed to this mailing list is eligible. Only persons who show commitment through contribution to discussions and attending meetups will be eligible to vote....Same criteria as last year
So get cracking guys...and respond soonest so that I create the poll by today.
All the best,
Yours,

Perhaps the nominees should write up their personal statements on-wiki, in a central place?

Just to add up ,for the very first time looks like more people have shown interest to represent WMKE @ a conference if i may, just tweak Murfys Law *,such is bound to* *happen someday *given that WMKE is growing ,i therefor would wish to request that we come up with all the metrics that will come to play if faced with similar circumstances maybe we even document it eligibility,no. of meet ups, duration of membership ,gender parity- if need be,etc etc ,This will save us the agony and time of planning physical meet ups to iron out such. It may not necessarily mean it must be entrenched in our chapters constitution but we can have it some where ,on that note am willing to spare a few minutes and seek members views through some questionnaire on what metrics should come to play should issues of representation arise again .

Very much agree with you. You might want to start with your opinion and documentation from here: http://wikimania2012.wikimedia.org/ We have discussed the metrics ( here on this thread) and seems its the same metrics used last year. Anything u might think of?

I vouch for the meetup tomorrow. I don't think Skype or other virtual meetups bring out the personal commitment of the members to WMKE. Many of us sacrifice our time, money and jobs to make it to such meetups and we also agree that physical meetups really bring out on-spot solutions. Even on the Wikimedia Community physical meetups are preferred that is why in the first place we have the Chapters Conference the Finance meetup all happening this and next month despite the huge cost implications.
So Meetup way to go...especially for the nominees. If you cannot sacrifice attending WMKEs meetup, would you sacrifice a week for the Chapters Conference? and your personal costs too? (my opinion)

Is the meeting tomorrow still on? Maybe it would have been better to meet the nominees tomorrow and hear their statements and vote thereafter.
It'd be

I'd say an 11 am meetup sounds great. For those who can't make it physically, again, I'll / we'll be on Skype so we can definitely try and loop everyone in.
Sin\ce this was mentioned today and not everyone may have checked their emails, ping me on phone, mail etc to confirm your attendance and I'll get in-touch (over phone or otherwise) with anyone who I haven't heard from.

Hallo people,I think the idea of a meet-up tomorrow isn't a very good idea. It's has been announced too late and most of us were prepairing for a meet-up on the 11th of feb. Any way I propose we cancel tomorrows meet-up. Thanks!

Wow, I give up... OK, so no meetup, guys aren't updating their bios / taking too long to respond and we need these before Sunday, so what now?
This is really a direct forward process that we can do under an hour be it on the list, over chat (Skype) or a physical meetup. We just need guys to be at the same place at that time (virtually/physically).
