FYI Abbas, it's quite healthy for a group to meet and not edit!
From what I know about how to handle groups, bonding sessions are important. People can meet and talk. talking involves setting objectives about what they are going to do next. In this case WTN matters were discussed and targets laid. Thru that we'll surely have a large pool to work on.
My point : it was a whole multitasking &multithreading event! So much was done besides editing. Regards, Lilian.

Abbas,
I like your positive criticism on the minutes posted herein somehow. But remember We cannot sit back quiet about some pertinent issues that concern our chapter because we were editting wikipedia.FYI, We typed as we talked and it seemed a better chance since we never have any other meet ups. Do we?
No one, even you had mentioned anything about logistics to be laid down as we host Asaf in a months time. Or if that's not important please let me know.
Asaf's visit thread in the mailing list is the shortest in ranking if I compared to; the recent SA visit whose emails came in like it was a live chat , the WTN thread (do you even know it exists?),the Mombasa pilot, the Kakamega pilot and the Nyeri pilot were also 'well discussed'.
However, I would like to inform you and other members who did not attend that the usual editting was done and probably in deeper detail.
- Chris n Sarah shall be looking for places and names in Nairobi then fill
in the targets at our WTN goals wiki -I bet they can only do this only if they know how to edit wikipedia.
*Alex shall be filling in the scavenger hunt site with reference to the populated Wiki.
- Oscar L. And I shall write Kiswahili stubs about places with non- existant
articles since members withdrew from swahili citing they are not quite comfortable with swahili language. Do you know why Swahili and not English?
Oscar took the newbie who attended through the whole induction and be informed he learnt very quickly and he has an article already. Let me lias with him then I would probably forward you his wikipedia username, for content moderation!
I am beginning to speculate there are volunteers who are more equal than others!

I love the enthusiasm that JKUAT folks have. However, I hate to break it down to you that WikiSaturday is (as far as I'm concerned) not aimed to discuss matters pertaining WMKE but more importantly to teach members how to edit.
I know that the matters in your agenda are paramount, but in the general Wikimedia community, editing is a top priority: http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Editor_Trends_Study. Sadly, editing was not even explicitly mentioned in your agenda.I honestly do believe that editing should be number 1 on your agenda, since less than a fifth of the current members are Wikipedia editors.
Just a suggestion.

Hallo everyone, These are the minutes for the Wiki-Saturday session that we held today on 25th of ... _______________________________________________ WikimediaKE mailing list WikimediaKE@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediake
WikimediaKE mailing list WikimediaKE@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediake
Hi Abbas, I hate doing this but I think its time we all start attending this sessions to at least to gain some personal experience about what goes on before we pose our criticism on what goes on. FYI this was the 2nd meet-up held in JKUAT.
We concentrated our editing on the Challenges meta as well as the Swahili Wikipedia. I clearly included all this in the minutes.
However, these sessions are the only frequent meet-ups we are going to engage in as WMKE. So its time we adapt to the changing roles of the sessions and position ourselves appropriately to ensure all areas of need are met effectively.
So kindly issues like few members editing should be dealt with by you guys showing up as much as possible and teaching more memberss on how to go about editing.
Therefore, lets get down to business and sort the pressing matters at hand. You gyts are up next in organizing for our next meet-up. We are looking up to you now
Sincerely, Riwa
