Hi folks,
I've created a sample Google form that may be used for people to register for the event. It's a very basic form with starting with some questions followed by a survey of some general knowledge Wiki questions that we could use to assist us in planning on how to improve in areas that the public has little or no knowledge of.
If you feel that there is a crucial question that I have left out, kindly edit it so that I can put the final form at http://www.wikimedia.or.ke
happy holidays.

Hey Manuel,
This hasn't been reported yet. If it happened, we'll probably get a news brief at 6 pm EAT from local reporters.
Stay tuned!

Hi all,
I am unsure how to say that correctly, as we have gathered here all kind
of cultures, faiths and believe.
But anyway I think most (if not all) of you can now enjoy some holidays
for one reason or another, and then there is the new year coming as well.
So for all of this I wish you nice holidays, enjoy the time with your
family and take some rest and relax. Have a great start into 2011 and a
successful year.
The next year will be an exciting year again, I see new chapters coming
up, the chapters meeting in Berlin is already set and I am really
looking forward Wikimania.
Have a great time and see you soon well,
Manuel

Also a bit off-topic, but much more interesting than Wikileaks:

Unfortunately I could only find this one german article, so you have to
live with the Google translation (except you understand german).

Hi,
according to recent news Julian Assange from Wikileaks claims that two
staff members have been killed in Kenya and says that this was, along
with other threats, a targeted act to force Wikileaks down.
As you might have better access through local news: Has there been any
media coverage of this case, is there any evidence if this could be true
or not?
Thanks and regards,
Manuel

Hi folks,
It's been a while since we last communicated. Anyway, I just wanted to update you on the progress I have managed to make:
Today, Grace and I visited he designer who'll create our posters and banners. He'll send me a sample before printing them. I'll share them with you when he gets back to me with the samples. The Dean has advised me to remove the tea break since, from his past experience, tea-breaks tend to be too time-consuming (sometimes taking upto 45 mins before the attendants settle back again). His opinion was that it's not logical for us to waste almost an hour for tea when the actual event is only 3hours! After all, there will be a cake-cutting session inbetween which will act as a break to the attendants.I also visited Google's office today and I'll let you know about their response in due course.Fahamu.org is also enthusiastic to meet with us so that we can discuss plausible ways of collaboration. Unfortunately, Fahamu's Executive Director will be out of the country when Ting is in the country. We agreed to hold the meeting at a later date, nonetheless (that is, when the ED will be back in Kenya). We are expecting a representative from Fahamu at the launch.
The Chairman is booked for the following days:Sunday, Monday 9/10th Jan 2011 - Press interviews. I am yet to receive confirmation from Julie Gichuru and Jeff Koinange. If you guys have any contacts from KTN or any other media outlet, kindly let me know so that we could arrange for other interviews, if possible.
Tuesday, Wednesday - Still not yet booked. I hope that we'll manage to get confirmations from various universities so that Ting could give talks on these dates. Google might also schedule a meeting on one of these afternoons as well.
Thursday - Launch at Strathmore Auditorium
Friday - We shall accompany Ting to Carolina for Kibera. Ting is the one who connected me to CFK. For more info about CFK, check: http://cfk.unc.edu/index.php
Cheers,Abbas.

Hey Klein,
So far, we've identified campus students and a few local companies as attendies. The companies will get invites while interested campus students will apply via a Google form. I'll be setting this up tomorrow.
I like the idea on inviting local techies to the event. Here's my thought, we could draft a list of techies to invite like we did with the companies and move on from there. And ofcourse, your involvement in this is welcomed, so feel free to chip in.
Guys, your thoughts on this?
And yeah, thumbs up to the Switzerland chapter for the support they've given us so far.
Cheers.
Alex.

Hey Sam,
I'll setup a Google form to receive applications for the event as well as a facebook page for more info.
Another thing, I'll post a list of info for the event's poster so you guys can add to it as I do the design it. As for the banners, I'd suggest 2 for Wikipedia and 1 for Wikimedia, what do you think?
I'll probably have all these ready end of next week.
Ps: hope you guys are enjoying your holz. Merry xmas and a happy new year!
Cheers.
Alex.
