Dear all,
The ISA Tool is a crowdsourcing tool used on Wikimedia Commons to add “depicts” statements
to the metadata, thus describing the content of media files in form of structured data
that refer to concepts on Wikidata and can be queried as linked open data.
On 12 December, from 16:00 to 17:30 CET, we are holding a workshop where we will present
the enhanced version of the ISA
Tool<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:ISA_Tool> and discuss what
constitutes “good tagging” of images.
The enhanced version of the ISA Tool that contains recommendations from algorithms can be
found here:
https://isa-dev.toolforge.org
I would encourage you to give it a try!
Starting point for our discussions around tagging rules and recommendations are the
following draft guidelines: Commons:Depiction
guidelines<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Depiction_guidelin…
You’ll find a detailed description of the workshop as well as the ZOOM link on the
following page:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:ISA_Tool/Image_to_Concept#ISA_Wo…
I would strongly encourage anybody with some prior experience with Wikimedia Commons
and/or the description of media files in heritage collections to take part in the
workshop.
Warm regards,
Beat
