Dear Member of the GLAM-Wiki Coordination Group,
See the message belowâŠ
You are of course all welcome to provide input to the White Paper chapter - no matter the language â I will take care of the formulation in German.
Kind regards,
Beat Estermann
(estermannb(a)gmail.com)
P.S.: Apparently, my first email regarding the White Paper chapter a couple of months ago didnât make it through the moderation of this mailing list. Sorry about that! â This is also why I am sending this email from my old email address â in the hope that it will automatically get through.

Subject: Whitepaper-Kapitel fĂŒr Kultur- und Kulturerbedaten - Final Review (Doodle)
Hallo allerseits,
Vielen herzlichen Dank fĂŒr all eure Inputs!

Dear colleagues,
The GLAM Technical Meetups were started last Summer. The idea is to meet
a couple of times in the year to exchange ideas and experiences on Tech
in GLAM.
Our 2nd event, *Practical applications of Machine Learning in GLAM*,
will take place on Monday December 5th, starting at 19h15 in Bern.
For this meeting, we want to talk about machine learning (ML) in our
field. The application of ML grows fast and will help us to do more
boring work with fewer human interactions. For sure, there are drawbacks
and legit criticisms toward ML. We do not believe it will solve all our
problems and make human expertise obsolete. But there are problems we
can solve with ML. We will host three talks from experts with practical
experience in the field. After the presentations, we can discuss the
potential and dangers of ML.
Talks & speakers :
đ€ Markus Stauffiger, 4eyes <https://www.4eyes.ch>, Latest research
meets client requirements: Machine Learning based multimedia information
retrieval used in archives.
đ€ Laura Rettig, SWITCH, Research Data Connectome
<https://www.switch.ch/connectome/>
đ€ Dr. Tarun Chadha, ID Service ETHZ, next level Access e-periodica
<https://nla.e-periodica.ch/>
Then it will be open for discussion đŁïž on the topic with a small apero đ„đȘ

Dear all,
In a cooperation project between BFH, SWITCH, and Wikimedia Sweden, we
are currently enhancing the ISA Tool
<https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:ISA_Tool> by providing
tagging recommendations based on a machine vision algorithm and an
algorithm designed to extract entities from metadata on Wikimedia Commons.
For those of you who do not know the ISA Tool yet: It is a crowdsourcing
tool used on Wikimedia Commons to add "depicts" statements to images. It
thus helps the community to add structured data to images, by creating
links between images and related concepts in Wikidata.
The enhanced tool is currently in the beta-testing phase. You are
invited to try it out and to give feedback. In the current test round,
we are *focusing on usability and the look and feel of the enhanced tool*.
In a second test round, we will explore the notion of what constitutes
"good tagging" and to what extent the algorithm-based recommendations
help users follow good tagging practices.
We deeply appreciate your feedback, since it will help us determine the
next steps of the project.
Please sign-up to indicate interest, test the tool, and simply provide
feedback on the talk page.

Thank you in advanceÇ

Diesen Monat feiert Wikidata seinen 10. Geburtstag.
