Please register by Friday with your passport info (because we are crossing
the Canadian border!) to join the Wiki-Train to WikiConference North
America in Toronto this November.
There will be two group trips, one from NYC to Toronto on Nov 8, and
another from Toronto to NYC on Nov 13. You can join for one or both.
Here is the Google form for the passport info, fill it out by Friday Sep 8:

https://train.wikinyc.org

We need to submit the form to Amtrak this week, but can change later, so if
you're possibly interested, I'd encourage you to fill it out!
Friends, partners and family are welcome on the Wiki-Train as well at the
same discounted rate, and their info should be filled in too, as long as
they plan to participate in WikiConference North America as well.
Please respond directly to this email if you have any questions about the
wiki-train.

Weather is looking fine today for "the picnic anyone can edit" on Governors
Island, at Colonel's Row by ArtCrawl Harlem house from 2-7pm, as part of
the Great North American Wiknic celebrations (and Wikimania satellite
events) being held across the continent.
This is the first big summer Wiknic since the 2019 edition and will feature
an edit-a-thon focused on Governors Island and ArtCrawl Harlem, Depths of
Wikipedia (recently of perpetual stew fame), as well as plenty more food
topics drawing on the potluck ethos. All are welcome, new and experienced!

All attendees are subject to Wikimedia NYC's Code of Conduct, and hope to
see you there!

Join us Saturday July 29! Come to the New York Botanical Garden this
Saturday, noon-3pm. No experience necessary, all are welcome.
Want to learn how to add your local park to Wikipedia? Want to learn how to
add information about the environment to Wikipedia?
There will be tutorials, editing, snacks and two short talks, one on City
Island Oyster Reef and one on the Hutchinson River Restoration Project.
Wikimedia NYC is honored to be co-hosting the Edit-a-thon event at the New
York Botanical Garden. Titled “Environment of the Bronx - Editing Wikipedia
for Beginners” we will be focusing on the theme of the environment of the
Bronx and teaching beginners how to use Wikipedia. We will be working off
of task lists prepared by the Environment of New York City Task Force. The
event is in the LuEsther T. Mertz Library, which is a historic building at
the NYBG. This Saturday *free* 12p-3p. There will be a nature walk after
the Wikipedia editing.
You can sign up on Wikipedia or at the NYBG website.
