You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community on the afternoon of
Sunday October 1 for our Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month Edit-a-thon, with
in-person at Prime Produce Guild Hall in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.

Help write and improve wiki articles about culture, history, biographies,
civic issues, even cuisine! Contributions on English Wikipedia and Spanish
Wikipedia are both welcomed (as well as any other language, because it is
wiki).

This event is being held in the middle of National Hispanic Heritage Month
(Sep 15–Oct 15), and will include lunch and refreshments for participants.

Please join Wikimedia NYC for our Members’ Meeting <
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Election_2023> on
September 20, 2023. The Members' Meeting is similar to other WikiWednesday
meetups, except that its primary function is to elect a new Board of
Directors.
We will elect five or so board seats. After being elected, those elected
can potentially appoint more seats.
If you've been active in the chapter and looking for ways to deepen your
engagement, consider putting yourself forward! If you know someone who you
think would be a good fit for the Wikimedia NYC Board, encourage them to
self-nominate, too! The deadline to nominate yourself is September 13.
Voting (open to all chapter members) will be via a secure third party
service, and will be possible both online and in-person, in a period
starting a couple of days before. Your email address will be required to
vote in order to validate members, but your vote itself will be anonymous.
The meetup page
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Election_2023> has some
additional information for prospective candidates.
Please respond directly to this email if you have any questions about the
election or running for chapter board.
Thanks,
Richard

We need to submit the form to Amtrak this week, but can change later, so if
you're possibly interested, I'd encourage you to fill it out!
Friends, partners and family are welcome on the Wiki-Train as well at the
same discounted rate, and their info should be filled in too, as long as
they plan to participate in WikiConference North America as well.
Please respond directly to this email if you have any questions about the
wiki-train.
