Sounds alright to me. I'd love to go to Berlin, but really can't spare any time to travel right now.

I suggest that after the posts go up, anyone who wants to can evaluate them and then we can all vote. Or something like that.

Yes - I'm interested! I was going to go to the Wikimedia Developer
Summit in San Francisco this month to continue to get more involved with the AI and machine learning work, but election-integrity-related stuff has poured over into the new year, so I can't swing that.

Aw, shoot. I’ve heard those are a lot of fun! I’m hoping to be released
from my PhD and able to attend WikiConference USA 2017, so maybe I’ll see you there instead!
I think the candidates should describe their involvement, goals and
plans in a few paragraphs, and we should go from there.
Sounds good to me! Whoever wants to go first should set up a subpage at
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedians_of_Colorado_User_Group so this isn’t just happening on the mailing list. Should we set January 6 as a deadline to have these in?
Judging these entries will also be tricky. I can volunteer to judge
them, but I wouldn’t want to be the ONLY judge, so if nobody else volunteers to judge, we might end up randomly choosing an entry after all. But I like the idea of candidates having to set out why they’d like to go, what they’ll do in Berlin and how that will benefit WM-US-CO.
cheers, Gaurav

Okay, yay, two candidates! Any more any more?
Also, any ideas on how we could pick one? Would anybody be interested
in a vote? We could run that at https://meta.wikimedia.org/ wiki/Wikimedians_of_Colorado_User_Group — otherwise, once all the applicants are in, we could just pick one at random at https://www.randomresult.com/ticket.php. Let me know what you think!

I can also do this but will defer to another candidate if needed.

I could do it, but I really don't know if I'd be the best person. Perhaps someone who's more active in organising actual events and whatnot? Or who even knows who that would be...

Hullo!
Wikimedia Conference 2017 [1] will take place in Berlin, Germany,
from
March 31 to April 2, 2017; it's a chance for Wikimedia organizations (such as us!) to meet and discuss plans for pushing the Wikimedia movement forward around the word. According to the Eligibility List [2], it looks like the Wikimedians of Colorado User Group [3] (such
as
us!) can send ONE person to Berlin to represent us. I think accommodation and airfare are paid for either by the Wikimedia Foundation or WMDE [4].
Anybody interested in going? Check out the questions on the application form [5] and send an e-mail to the group letting us know your interest. If more than one person is interested, we can vote on it or something, but let's see who's interested to begin with. The hard deadline for registering for the conference is January 8, so
I'd
like to have a final decision on who we want to send by January 6 at the latest. If there's a lack of response we might decide earlier
than
that, so if you're AT ALL interested, please let all of us know
ASAP!
Happy holidays, everybody!
cheers, Gaurav
